KMK: Mozzie

Food Restaurants

Mozzie, the New Zealand/Aussie bar, in Itaewon offers up a modern hip feel while you wine and dine yourself senseless. It’s an open and airy space complete with a deck for those bright sunny days to sip wine as the sun sets. The entire enterprise is the brain child of Simon Walsh, a native kiwi, and his cohort of partners who sought to fill a void in the Itaewon dining scene. Swanky seems to sum up Mozzie nicely, especially considering it sits hip to hip with the new I.T.W hotel.

As mentioned before, wining and dining, is what the fuss is all about at Mozzie. The menu genuinely reflects that state of mind as it lists dish after dish of Aussie and New Zealand comfort food. This includes dishes such as Jake the mussels, steak, salmon, Lamb Shank Redemption, Russel Crowe Ribs, Homemade Sausage Rolls, Lasagna, Lamb Chops, smothered chicken, and many, many more. My favorite turned out to be the Captain Cooker Chops. This dish gives you two thick and juicy pork chops smothered in gravy with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and a helping of peas. Deliciously filling you won’t go wrong with this dish. Then there’s the burger menu with your choice of Cajun chicken, lamb, or beef. Of course you’ll also find a selection of salads, soups and appetizers to complement your main dishes. Thankfully the prices are quite reasonable and the portion sizes substantial.mozzie-bundaberg

The menu is so extensive that I suggest taking advantage of their weekly specials. During the week the folks at Mozzie have devised a delightful number of surprises. On Mondays you can enjoy their lamb shoulder chops, pan potatoes, and coleslaw all for 10,000 Krw with the any drink purchase. On Tuesdays its a plate of meaty ribs done right all for 10,000 Krw and any drink purchase. There’s also a winter set option that includes a plate of lamb chops and a bottle of house wine for 69,000 KRW or a who ate all the pies, lasagna, and bottle of house wine for 59,000 KRW. On the other hand you could just head straight for the happy hour 1 + 1 special on tap beers from 5 pm to 7 pm every day. With beers on the brain you can peruse their long list of options from the likes of Monthieth’s Indian Pale Ale, Black Beer, Crush Apple Cider and Southern Pale Ale to Bundaberg’s lemon, lime and bitters or their Ginger beer (my favorite).
