Noxa is an Italian style restaurant in the Gyeongridan neighborhood. I’ts been there for as long as I can remember, but I only just recently stepped in to grab a bite. My friend Sonia and I made an impulse decision and opted for an early dinner after work.
Noxa has a few things going for it. First, from the blazing pink Noxa in the City advertisement it’s clear they’re going for the gal pals who brunch set. Second, the location can’t be beat. Being at the foot of Gyeongridan means that most folks unwilling to trek up the steep hill will instead choose Noxa for it’s more convenient location. Third, the outside patio that runs alongside the restaurant ensures a stead crowd of diners eager to soak up some sun while dining.
Inside the space is modern and chic. The decor is black and chrome with floor to ceiling windows capable of folding back on bright sunny days. Splashes of greenery provide a calming accent to keep things from being so intense. It’s a great spot to sit back and relax with a cocktail. Before we got that far though Sonia and I scanned the menu and settled upon the foccacia sandwiches from the all day brunch section.
The home baked Italian foccacia sandwich set proved to be well worth the won. The choices included pulled pork, falafel, grilled vegetable or grilled chicken. I went with the pulled pork while Sonia had the chicken. The set also included a crisp side salad and a tasty bowl of their daily soup. All that for 10,000 KRW. That’s a pretty good deal.
Of course they have other options on the menu. The antipasti items like garlic bread, bruschetta, caprese di mozzarella and pomodoro, panazanella, as well as a selection of beef, chicken, vegetable, or salmon salads are priced between 3,000 and 15,000 KRW. There are over fifteen different types of pasta ranging from traditional simple spaghetti to puttanesca, frutti di mare, lasagna alla bolognese, or gnocchi di magro. Cream, tomato, or oil base pastas are on hand ranging from 11,000 to 17,000 KRW. There are also three Italian style pizzas; Margherita, rustic, and pizza Noxa. There’s even an all day omelet or English breakfast if you want something completely different.
