Santorini Taverna turned out to be an unexpected surprise. Usually I like surprises but only when they end up being good ones. Disappointing barely describes my experience at this Greek restaurant.
I was thrilled to finally have a chance to check out Santorini. I love Greek food and thought it a blast that one actually existed in Itaewon. My enthusiasm turned out to be terribly short lived. For starters the price point is way over the top. They could stand to cut things by 10 to 20 percent. Now I don’t mind paying for meals that are quality with fresh ingredients and prepared with a skilled hand.
Mamma taught me to say something good before you deliver the bad so to that end I have to say that the fried zucchini was actually quite nice. My friend Joe says his moussaka was bland, flavorless and far away from Greece. Renzo thought the best part of his meal of chicken soulvaki was the complimentary brownie. My own pork soulvaki turned out to be on the dry side. Though I have to say the olives were tasty.

I haven’t been here in forever, but I remember I really liked the fried potato coins.
Yeah I’m sure they have a few things that are well done but overall I was disappointed.
