I just had the most divine cupcake ever and it came from the most unlikely place: Mr. Pizza! It seems as though the Korean Pizza giant has opened a chain of coffee and muffin establishments called Manoffin. Not the mot inviting or attractive name, but with cupcakes like the one I had they could call themselves rice tard and people would still come.
Manoffin also offers cups of coffee for 790won. You cannot beat that though I can’t vouch for the coffee since I only had the cupcakes or muffins as they call them but really they’re cupcakes.
The Manoffin cafes also do their part to support local artists by exhibiting and selling art. They recently held a portfolio contest where 10 artists were chosen to showcase their work at the Banpo-dong cafe. Five of the top ten were awarded cash prizes and two of the top five were granted residencies at Gana Art’s Jangheung Atelier.
Besides they’re Banpo Dong branch Manoffin can also be found inside some Shinsegae department Stores. Check out the interactive map on the Manoffin Website to find the location closest to you. It’s in Korean though so have a friend handy to help.

They actually have one IN Hongdae subway station. Near exit 2 i think…
