KMK: Coreanos Kitchen

Food Restaurants

Looking for some solid Mexican food in Itaewon that isn’t Vatos? Coreano’s is your place. It’s simple, easy to find, and absolutely delicious. You won’t regret it!

Let me just say before I start gabbing about the food that one thing Coreanos does all kinds of right is there cocktail game. I’m a sucker for a great cocktail. And a great cocktail at a reasonable price? Take all my money.

The Coreanos signature SONAEROC drinks which are cocktails with another drink flipped upside-down inside do everything right. From Bernini to Red Bull you have your choice of all kinds of varieties to get your buzz. Cocktails and Mexican food pair well and even if the upside-down thing might be too much for you there’s still classic margarita’s either frozen and blended or on the rocks. Don’t worry there’s beer and wine for those tame of heart.

When it comes to the food I started with the Three Wise Nachos. You can also get fries as an alternative. I wouldn’t but to each their own. This definitely became my favorite dish. Generous portions of Chicken, Galbi, & Pork all combined with three different hot sauces served on nacho chips, with onions and cilantro. What’s not to love?

Though the Quesadillas and Burritos sounded appealing, I instead went for the tacos. I love tacos. Hard shell tacos that is. There’s something about the crunch that takes it over the line for me. Coreanos doesn’t do hard shell tacos, but that’s OK. I’m opened minded, so I ordered their Grilled Shrimp, Carne Asada, Galbi Beef, and Pork Belly tacos each wrapped in a corn soft shell tortilla. Each distinct taco came in a pair so my game plan of eating one and taking the other home from each pair worked out nicely.

The pork belly stood out the most for me. Tender, flavored and delicious. The Galbi Beef one I could have passed on for something else. The Grilled Shrimp had a burst of citrus that I really enjoyed. This came in as my second favorite. The Carne Asada hit about the same as the Galbi Beef: good but forgettable.

Next time I plan to tackle the Quesadillas and the Burritos.

The Good: That Grilled Shrimp taco is in my dreams.

The Bad: I want my hard shell tacos. Yes, I’m a philistine.

The Weird: Sonaeroc drinks with flipped drinks inside!
