Editor’s Note: Chef Meili has moved to a new location: 서울특별시 성동구 옥수동 475 성원상떼뷰상가 1층 102호 Unit 101, 166, Dokseodang-ro, Seongdong-gu
Chef Meili is an Austrian restaurant located a hop and a skip from Itaewon Station. I went a couple times with my friend Rebecca who has more than a passing acquaintance with foods from this neck of the woods.
I didn’t know what to expect myself. I mean, the word Austrian brings to mind green covered hills and awkardly dressed children singing in chorus with their love pining nanny. Not to mention that the word goulash just doesn’t sound so appealing.
Then, when I took a look at the mascots for the place, I was almost sure that I’d have a Burtonesque meal in store for me. I’m happy to report that Chef Meili proved to be tasty if not exactly inexpensive. The menu includes the obligatory sausage dishes as well as smoked fish and sides like spaetzl pasta.
Thanks Philipp!
I really do love the food there. This coming Thanksgiving I believe they're doing a special dinner. I can't wait! Thanks for the kind words about the site.

Chef Meili’s is an awesome place! I’m so glad you blogged this one! It’s a very quaint and friendly spot with the best sausagee in town!!! >>Also Meili is always willing to speak German so if you need to freshen up on your Deutsch -GEH!>>Prima!!!
I haven’t been here in quite awhile and I’m getting a craving again! Sauerkraut is calling my name along with some spaetzl! Plus I really need to do a write up on their Deli which is just as delicious.
