KMK: Video Game Alley in Seoul

Shopping Stores Video Games

If you’re a lover of video games then you need to know where to pick up the latest big thing to hit the consoles. If you’re looking for games then look no further than Video Game Alley in Seoul. It’s actually a basement floor of a building in Yongsan, but the entrance way possesses an alley like feeling.

First, you’ve got to get there. Go to Sinyongsan Station on the light blue line. Take exit 4 and go left at the light in front of you. Keep walking straight, crossing the street toward a foot tunnel. Keep on going through the tunnel and head straight. You’ll see a Huge billboard to your left so you’ll know you’re going in the right direction.  Video game alley is directly underneath.

Inside it’s one long corridor jam packed with video game goodness. We’re talking about the latest PS4, Xbox, or Wii U, consoles.  And don’t forget the games! From the latest titles on disc sit alongside ancient Nintendo 64 cartridges. Sega Genesis anyone? Yup, even that. You can pick up whatever you like right there on the spot and if you can’t find it one of the several dozens of sellers can probably order it for you. They even have direct English versions as well as games sold only in Asia. You can even have hundreds of bootleg games put on a memory stick for you at a oh so special cost.

After you’ve picked out your games or console have a look at what else is for sale. Figurines, statues, play sets, and other collectibles pack the shelves. It’s a video game hobbyist playground. So go out and see for yourself. Of course if Video Game Alley is out of reach you can also check out these sources for your gaming fix.

  1. Hello,

Is it difficult for you to find time to love me? I have emailed here, texted, and sent messages on tindr but I have not heard anyting? Are you getting my messages? This is the final way I’m hoping to reach you. It’s not cool to not respond to someone only trying to love you.

If you don’t want to get anymore messages from me just say so…. silence is not golden.

  2. Glad I found your blog. I bought a ps4 just for the FF7R and was pretty disappointed to learn that my local retailer only has the Korean version.

I want to visit this video game alley and check to see if they have an English version.

Do you know if they do or not?

    1. You should definitely go. I want to try and preorder the ps5 but I’m thinking my fingers aren’t quick enough to click online ha. I will probably have to go to a brick and mortar to sign up or just wait till 2021. Video Game Alley is definitely worth the visit.

  4. You teach ESL in Seoul? Do you speak Korean? I know it is a notoriously difficult language for native English speakers. I’m planning on checking this place out today but damn it’s cold out. Hope it has the Korean games I’m looking for, using them as a language resource.

  5. Hi. I just moved to Seoul recently and wanted to get my hands on a Nintendo 2ds and the game monster Hunter 4. My only issue is I want to have the English versions for these items. Do you know if the video game alley or any other place in Seoul sell these items? Thanks.

    1. They usually have a bunch of english games but if they dont have the one you want try Playasia.com also. I have used them for games in the past. There is also a place across the street from Nambu bus terminal on the ninth floor that has a huge floor of games.
