Over the past few years longboarding has taken root and grown within Korea’s cultural consciousness. If you don’t know then picture a skateboard except, you guessed it, longer. It’s faster because of wheel size and makes for a great way to cruise stylishly downhill, slalom race or just effortless travel along your merry way. Longboarding in Seoul is the way to go.
Watching a talent glide along on his longboard brings a smile to your face. You see the boards being so long allows the longboarder to effortlessly dance, while skating. Tricks, spins, flips dazzle the eye all while displaying a self assurance and ease. This is never so apparent than when watching the face of longboarding in Korea, Ko Hyojoo, do her thing. Her grace and style evokes a sense of wonder and definite longboard envy. She makes you want to run out and buy one yourself. It’s easy to see why she’s become a world wide viral sensation, making videos of her longboarding in far flung places like Zurich, Portland, and Barcelona.

If you’re hooked then head over to spots like Ilsan’s Lake Park or the Han. The riverside paths and open areas have become a go to spot for the city’s longboarders as well as Banpo Bridge. You can also hit up the Timber Shop , the MindBoard Shop, site for more info on boards, teams in Korea, and places to longboard.
