KMK: Fat Cat

Cafes Food

If you’ve been living in the HBC area for a fair bit of time then you know about the revolving building of restaurants that now houses Fat Cat. That place has had more lives than cat on a freeway on it’s last life. Before its current incarnation it was Good to Go which was a transformation from Il Gattino which was a rebirth, of sorts, of Indigo. Whew! That’s a lot of change in so short of time, but who could expect anything else from the burgeoning gentrification our beloved HBC?

This time around there’s a whole new menu as well as a new emphasis on good old fashioned diner food. If you’re not quite sure what that is, no worries, think of it as comfort food. We’re talking high carb, high calorie, simple but delicious eats. The Fat Cat menu now boasts a Fat Cat bacon cheeseburger, Shepherd’s Pie, and pulled pork. The greener choices include Mediterranean, Ricotta Cheese, or a Cesar salad. If a sandwich appeals to you more then the choices expand: Reuben, Philly Cheese Steak, Chicken Pesto or Cheddar, Hummus Avocado and even a Breakfast option. Of course there’s the usual suspects of starters nachos, kimchi fries, quesedillas, spinach dip or chili cheese fries, but to be honest none of the above jumped out at me.

mac cheese baked beans mashed potatoes

Nope.

I went straight for the half an’ half special of rotisserie chicken and ribs. The chicken was moist tender white meat with crispy skin just shy of how I like it. The ribs come well sauced and flavorful. This can be had as take out as well. It also comes with the choice of three sides including Mac n Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Skinny Fries, Coleslaw, or Pork n’ Beans. I do have to note that after my third trip the portion size for the sides decreased dramatically; enough that I doubt I’ll return which is a shame because it was well worth the price before at 24,000 KRW.

Still if you’re up for it, give Fat Cat a go and tell me what your think!

Directions: Noksapyeong exit 2, walk straight, follow the kimchi pots, it will be  just across from Bonny’s Pizza.

  1. Sorry… but most of that just looks terrible.

“Well sauced” is not how ribs should be. Correctly cooked ribs should not require sauce, at best they should come with 1-2 light coats (applied at the end of cooking) with more on the side for those that like it. The ribs should stand on their own, and not need to be overpowered by sauce.

Mac and cheese looks dry, doesn’t appear to be much cheese sauce there.

Beans and mash both look like something I might pull out of my sink’s drain trap.

    1. The sauce in the pic is what I put on my ribs. And the only thing wrong with the mac n cheese and beans were the smaller portions they switched to.

      1. Alright then, when you said well sauced and I saw the picture I made the assumption that is how it was served.

Sides don’t look good, but taste is all that matters!

        Thanks for the clarifications.

        1. No worries I should have been clearer. Presentation does go a long way, but you’re right: give me taste over looks any day.
