After the disappointment of Wing Bakery I didn’t have much hope for a new bakery in the Itaewon area. I’m happy to say my sorrows have been wiped away with the arrival of The Bakers Table. Located right at the foot of the overhead walkway between HBC and Gyeongridan this European bakery fills a much needed niche: hearty home baked breads!
Proprietor and chef Micha Richter has created a bistro bakery one two punch that satisfies your need for a baked good fix while also offering up a menu of savory dishes. On the bakery side of things you can feast on German Rye, Baguettes, pretzels, rolls, and much more. While on the other hand you can also try the bratwurst which comes with seasoned potatoes and sauerkraut (delicious), the chicken burger with potato wedges (juicy with a great firm bun), or one of their fresh daily soups. I had the tomato and it was pitch perfect.
The Bakers Table also offers panini sandwiches (ham and cheese, chicken and provolone) as well as a BLT and Tomato and Mozzarella sandwich. My next step will be to try their breakfast menu. With options like English muffins, focaccia with cheese and balsamic olive oil, German hard rolls with jam, cheese, and butter as well as fried eggs with bacon and hash browns.
Even if you don’t feel up for a meal, having fresh baked bread just a stroll from home is a great treat.

I lived in Germany for 3 years, any chance I can expect a real currywurst and a real schnitzel? I’m sure the bread is great, for Seoul, but I won’t expect it to be at the level of German bread in Germany, even the German bread in the northern Germany regions can’t compare to that of the Southern regions,so I can hardly expect bread in Seoul to be close lol, but I’m sure it’s still good!

Their bread has been a hit or a miss for me . . . but that’s probably because I am not used to real German/European style bread. I think I prefer French-style bread moreso.
However, their tomato soup is awesome. And as their carrot cake and curry puff.
I love the soups and the sausages with sauerkraut!
