KMK: 30 Years of Korean Fashion

Fashion Lifestyle

On September 9, 2010 Model Line celebrated thirty years of Korean fashion with a swanky party in Apgujong. Equal parts art space, management company, production house, gallery and cafe the folks at Model Line celebrated by highlighting the work of prominent Korean photographers.

The work of  Koo Bong-Chang, Kown Young-Ho, Kim Bo-Ha, Kim Gwang-hae, Kim Yong-Ho, Lee Gun-Ho, Lee Sang-suk, Lee Jae-Gil, Lee Jae-Sun, Jung SUng-Keun, Cho Se-Hyun, and Cho Sun-Hee dominated the space during the evening outshining even the celebrity glitterati in attendance. For me, the haunting atmospheric photos by Lee Jae-Sun and the whimsical fashion shots of Cho Se-Hyun stood out the most, but I’m sure you’ll find your own favorites.

The night also celebrated the career of Model Line founder Lee Jae Yeon with a retrospective of his work and accomplishments. The gentleman in question looked spry and bright eyed for his age, welcoming guests.

The Good:

The work of some of Korea’s most celebrated Photographers all in the same place!

The Bad:

I was woefully undressed. Khakis and a dress shirt didn’t cut it and I felt out of place, but it was still a great time. Gallery viewings will be much less formal than on their opening night.

The Weird:

Along with the artistic photos are historical photos of the Model Line agency dating back to the seventies and seeing those Korean gals with Farrah hair and the guys in seventies suits is a hoot!
