When it comes to Vietnamese food I admit I’m a total newbie. I head straight for the Pho and don’t even look at much less consider anything else. Pho is what I know. It’s tasty. It’s good. That’s all I needed from any Vietnamese place or so I thought.
Thanks to my friend Linh introducing me to Le Saigon my experience of Vietnamese has reversed course. This little restaurant on the outskirts of Itaewon near Gyeonidan serves up some of the most flavorful, savory dishes at a price so reasonable that I feel criminal paying so little.
We’re talking about dishes like their seafood Vietnamese fried rice. Delicately wrapped vegetarian spring rolls with the crunch of fresh vegetables. The Vietnamese style pork chops that I devour so fast I want to order another serving before I’m half way finished. The chicken wings? Delectable.
Tawny bamboo colored lamps combined with the deep green walls gives you the feel of a tiny jungle village. In the tiny back kitchen magic happens in such short order that you’ll think they had your dish ready before you even sat down! They also serve baguette sandwiches (banh mi) as an option or Saigon wraps (wolnamssam). You create you own wrap with a choice of pork, beef or seasoned mushrooms. The dish is served with shrimp, vermicelli, mushrooms, pineapple, apples, cherry tomatoes, avocado and fresh vegetables. The set menu allows you to choose a rice or noodle dish along with spring rolls and soup.
So make haste and get yourself over there. You’re sure to enjoy every minute.
Big Thanks to Chris in the Comments for pointing out that I failed to leave Directions! Go to Noksapyeong Station. Take Exit Two. Walk straight until you come to the underground passage. Take that and Le Saigon should be one of the restaurants facing the street.
I hope that helps!
You are so bad with directions SO BAD but I love you
Aw, are my directions really that bad? I’m sorry. I’ll try go do better. You did find it though, right? What did you think?
OMG, I went here for the first time a couple weeks ago. It’s phenomenal! The food is much more authentically Vietnamese than most places in Seoul.
It really is a great place! I hope more people go check them out! What was your favorite dish?
Thanks, that's great! I'll be visiting soon 🙂
Okay, I'm bad with directions so you're gonna have to bear with me. First, if you are at the hamilton hotel in Itaewon you need to walk toward the Mcdonalds but stay on the same side of the street as the hamilton. You will pass Mcdonalds, but keep following the street which will eventually curve.
Keep on going and you will pass a car dealership, a bookstore, a few restaurants like a taco joint and thunderburger, keep going, and cross the little street, keep going straight and you'll pass the Waffle factory, keep going and you'll come to Le Saigon.
I hope that helps!
Could u provide some directions? Thanks!!!
