Red Devils Cheer

KMK: Dae Han Min Guk

Lifestyle Sports

For the last few weeks Korea has been gripped by a frenzy of nationalism not seen since Kim Yuna skated her way to Olympic glory. To be sure that epic event had everyone glued to their TV screens whether they were at home, in a bar, or at work, but now even that is eclipsed by an entire population tuning in to watch The Korean Red Devils take on the world!

Not on bars and restaurants but we’re talking whole parks and stadiums! A sea of people turbulent when the Red Devils scored against Greece with face twisted in an orgiastic estacy and primal shouts of pent up passion finally being released! But then, during the battle against Argentina, the sea’s fury subsided and ebbed into the calm waters of defeated faces and sunken shoulders.

Still, the sea never wavers in its staunch support despite the highs and lows.

The next match is coming this Saturday at 11PM local time. It’s the first time Korea has reached the final 16 on foreign soil and the masses and I will be out to support them! If you’re in Korea you can join in on the fun at several locations listed below. Warning: Get there early if you want a good spot because last time, down by the Han river, people were gathering at 7pm for a game that didn’t start until 3AM!

Korea will take on Uruguay in a match that will surely be a nail biter!
