Fringe Festival is a two week independent artist festival held in hongdae in Seoul. I only managed to attend the last day, but I tried to make the most of it.
The festival takes place on the street and in local galleries and theaters. Exhibits included independent painters, singers, dancers and everything else under the sun including mimes!
On the street they had a section for passerbys to participate by drawing about their experiences in Korea.
Microphones lined the streets for the groups to entertain the crowds. Singers blew away everyone with folksy numbers and Korean rap ditties.
We tried to track down some of the indoor events, but really we couldn’t find anything among the twisting Hongdae streets. Even with festival maps and guides, trying to find a small theater proved to be near impossible.
Luckily there was plenty to see on the streets: graffitti, murals, and interactive installations.
Over two hundred groups and artists participated in the festival from China, Thailand and Korea. Next Year I’ll be sure to get a head start on the
