This year when Mudfest came around I joined up with some friends and hitched a ride with Adventure Korea to Daechan Beach. We started off early on a misty Saturday morning in front of the Shinsegae Department Store at Express Bus Terminal. Angela, Sheila, and Amanda barely made the bus thanks to a previous long night out on the town.
However, once they arrived we were off on the road to beach blanket tomfoolery. We coasted down the highways for a cool three hours before breezing into the Boryeong city limits. We dumped our stuff off in our somewhat sparse hotel room. Actually, sparse doesn’t begin to cover the vacuum in that room. Still, we weren’t there to lounge on the floors, though we did that for a hot minute, so we hit the beach to take in the sights.
Walking in line like a good little field trip group we made our way to the fresh mud to slather ourselvers shamelessy. I think I read some brochure that the mud contains some rejuvenating and revitalizing properties or maybe I just saw that on the bottle of Pantene shampoo.
Despite being Johnny Come latelys we jumped into the mud slinging and flinging with true gusto. Some of us got a little more excited than others and Angela even managed to do it all without removing her cigarette.
Half the fun of mud fest is watching the throng of people wallow in the mud with the sheer abandon of kids in the kiddie pool. I have to say that mudfest this year was ten times more fun than last thanks to the added addition of my friends. Enjoy the pics and be sure to go next year if you can!
I wish we had pics of covering you completely in sand!
