One of the best days on my Beijing trips was the day of the Forbidden City. My foremost experience with the Forbidden City was the Movie The Last Emperor. Well, there were no opium drugged concubines scampering around or conniving Dowager crones, but despite that tiny disapointment the Forbidden City more than lived up to my expectations.
The entrance to the Forbidden City was packed with old ladies selling water, tourists, and students from the Universities selling their artwork.
Renovations were in full swing, spiffing up the place for the 2008 Olympic games.
