Over the weekend a friend and I ventured into Omuto Tomato for dinner. This one is located right by Sinchon Station on the green line near Ewha Women’s University. Omuto Tomato is a trendly looking quick casual restaurant specializing in fusion omurice.
What’s omurice you may ask? Well it’s a Japanese dish that takes an omelette and wraps it around rice. The word omurice itself is a blending of the French word Omelette and the English word rice. The blending doesn’t stop there as Omuto Tomato spices things up with there whole fusion angle. Fusion in this case meaning plopping something entirely different and entirely wacky on top of the omurice.
We opted for the German sausage and peanut battered prawns, but you could also have a variety of other things dropped on top your omurice. Ribs? Yup. Pasta? No, problem. Chicken curry? You, bet! I believe the good folks at Omuto Tomato would even put a whole pizza on top if you wanted or a cheeseburger.
