Food aphrodisiacs exist all over the world. They hold a mystique that cloaks them in sensuality and mystery, giving them an allure that people find appealing. Oysters come to mind off the top of my head and chocolate. These are sensual foods that are supposed to make you a love machine. Though I never quite knew how exactly, figuring it must be some alchemical concoction devised by higher powers that we stumbled on or maybe some FDA approved chemicals manufactured by a pharmaceutical company and injected by some food exporters.
The Chosun Ilbo breaks the food love down Korean Style by exploding the notion that aphrodisiacs, also known as stamina foods, like snake and dog meat improve sexual potency by revealing that the high cholesterol actually damages blood vessels and thereby erections. Just another reason not to try dog meat, I say. Oysters, on the other hand, do improve sperm count so slurp away, but don’t consume too much as the zinc in high levels becomes toxic.
Like all things it seems that moderation is the key even when dealing with sexual potency and aphrodisiacs.
