My friends and I ventured to the Seoul Cartoon Museum and Animation Center a few weeks ago.
You can reach the Animation Center by taking Line 4 to Myeong-dong station and leave by exit 1. From there follow the signs up the curving hill and you will see the building shortly.
We came a week before the big animation festival, but we didn’t know that at the time.
It looks like Transzor Z but sadly it isn’t.
The cartoon museum was a delightful surprise with everything from modern comic books to ages old Korean serial cartoons.
The sketches were really impressive and the animation stills made you want to run out and see the film immediately.
Samarra demonstrates the wall of world comic art. From amos and andy to x-men, it was there.
I grew up with comic books. My uncle got me into them when I was about eight or nine and I’ve been collecting them ever since.
When I was in high school and college anime also became a big interest. It was so different than the cartoons on in the states. Anime stretched my imagination to places I never thought about before and all in a glossy mind warping eye popping wrapping.

This reminds me of the Flash Gordon serial television show which is ten thousand times better than that dreck Flash Gordon playing on the SciFi channel today.
I don’t know what it is, but it’s cute.

The animation center was a treat. I would also go to the zoo at soul grand park. Its supposed to be amazing. Im going this saturday. There’s a children zoo, zoo, hiking, rose garden, amusement park and a modern art museum. Thats some great one stop shopping.
I know you went to this a while back but I stumbled upon the Seoul Cartoon Museum and while looking up more info, I found your blog. I’m trying to visit while here visiting family. It looks like so much fun! I’m only here for one short week, any places you really suggest going? I’m in Samgakji.
