Hongdae is the section of Seoul near Hongik University, which is known for its awesome art department. The area is thriving with clubs and bars, boutiques and vendors selling t-shirts, candles and knick-knacks, and if you thrown in the restaurants and food stalls and the blaring karaoke noraebongs then hongdae has it goin’ on all night long. I’ll give you a glimpse of how the night went on before, during, and after.
The light, music, & goods galore fill the streets of Hongdae. Including both colorful people, like the guys hawking free beer for their bar andplaces, like the luxury Karaoke Norebang below.
We started out by making the rounds. Here’s a few shots of the dozens of bars & clubs Hongdae has to offer. We arrived for the live jazz a minute before they stopped playing… they sounded great though!

The street vendors and local students combine to form dozens of booths selling anything and everything. Candles and incense sit beside summer dresses and flip flops.
The students make a lot of what they sell. The displays of jewelry and ornate burners and holders goes on and on.
