KMK: You want a Piece of me?

Teach

I am torn. I’ve been applying to schools left and right, but there’s always something missing from the offer. I want to be in Seoul or near it at least, but the couple offers I received were way, way out in the boonies which reminded me of Whoopi saying she was wandering around the black forest in Germany with little kids running up to her, biting her arm, and screaming chocolate! I just think a big city would be best for me.

Back to the dilemma at hand: Two schools in Seoul are interested in hiring me. The first school I spoke with the American teacher already working there clicked with my vibe immediately. You know when you speak with someone and you just know that this is someone you want to hang with and become friends? Like that. The school and director seemed really nice and I was all set to sign up. But two other people the school talked with before me put a stop to all that. That’s the way it goes sometimes.

However, all was not doom and gloom, because the next morning offer number two rolled in and the director seemed like a really cool guy to work with. This position is also in Seoul so I thought that the universe was just opening another door for me after the last one slammed shut in my face. I accepted.

But not so fast! That night I heard from the first school. I don’t know what happened to one of the other candidates, but they wanted me. Both schools seem great, but even though I had a stronger connection with the teacher from school number one, I’d already committed to school number two. That’s the way it goes, I guess.

Seoul, here I come!
