KMK: Christmas Markets Seoul 2016

Markets Shopping

Fall has long since deserted us and the winds of winter have descended once more and not in a good George R.R. Martin kind of way. Still, with wintry embrace of cold comes the holiday delights of Christmas Markets Seoul 2016! So I hope you don’t have plans this weekend. Bah, even if you do, cancel them! Tomorrow evening on Saturday December 3rd, from 4:30 until 8:00 pm the doors to the German Christmas Market will be thrown open to one and all. It all goes down at the German International School in Hannam Dong. Once there you can immerse yourself in the German Christmas experience.

When it comes to the winter holiday season the Germans don’t hold back. You’ll find homemade traditional German goodies including sausages, soups, cookies, waffles and my personal favorite-Glühwein (mulled wine). There will also be loads of things to do like crafting, games, a mini cinema for kids, gingerbread decorating, and even a magician.

But don’t fret if Tomorrow is too short notice to get over to the German Market. Fear not, because next week on Saturday December 10th you can pop over to the European Christmas Market! Admittedly, the last time I attended the market happened to be way back in 2011. So, as you can imagine, I’m eager to go back and get my Christmas on.

Hosted by Seongbuk Global Village Center and sponsored by the Embassies of Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, and the Ukraine! You’ll find a bevy of expatriate Europeans and the philes who love them partaking in traditional Christmas treats, meals, and brews. There should also be plenty of Christmas trinkets and baubles to purchse for those last minute Christmas gifts for those hard to please friends.

Date: Saturday, December 10 – Sunday, December 11, 2016.
Time: 12:00noon- 8:00pm.
Price: Free admission
Venue: Seongbukcheon Fountain Square. Hansung University Station Exit 2.

  1. The German market had so many people show up! You had to wait forever for everything, but it was worth it. Thanks for the info!
