After work one night several of us jumped in a cab and headed for the nearby Costco. I’ve been here six months and I hadn’t yet made the trip, so I was excited. The thought of getting my hands on Eggo Waffles was enough to make me shake with anticipation.
Of course we assumed the cab driver would know where Costco was and thankfully it’s not really that far from us, but he still dropped us off at the local subway station and we had to trek it from there.
I didn’t mind at all as I’d brought my camera along and took some shots of the local public art which I was find interesting.
We passed by the Dream Tower where living must be like sleeping on clouds.
Costco! I never really used Costco back home, but I was sure glad to see it here in Korea where finding the things I’d taken for granted back home sounded like a great idea.
Membership in Korea runs about 30,000 Won which isn’t that bad at all. You must remember to bring your own bags unless you plan to purchase the Costco ones. Bring your own.
Lockers are there to store your belongings as Costco doesn’t want anyone making out with a can of Spam tucked away in a handbag.
Just like back home, the Costco products run the gamut from Computers and Hi Defintion TVs to even Keyboard Pianos.
Luckily we arrived late at night on a weeknight and there were not too many people shopping. I’ve heard horror stories of shopping cart aisle rage as people clamor to get the next sale item stuffed into their cart.
The ubiquitous Spam! I don’t understand the appeal of spam, but after watching a chep on Top Chef work wonders with it and listening to the judge rave about the dish, it does make me wonder.

Cheese is so hard to find in Korea and now I know why: Costco has all the good cheese!
If only I had an over to bake that monstrous pizzza in. On second thought it’s probably best that I don’t have an oven.
And of course I can’t fail to mention the nice selection of wines and liqour. I can’t seem to spot the Soju though.
The best logo and brand award goes to Enviro Kidz Gorilla Much Cereal for that beast of a kid you may have at home. So natural and tasty that even Gorillas must enjoy it.

Don’t forget to bring your bags! I’ll probably pop back over to Costco, but when you’re living alone and cooking for one, well eating for one in my case because the cooking thing doesn’t happen much, then it makes no sense to buy too much in bulk.
Basically its the same as any other Costco. You’ve got your huge bulk items a large liquor section and a deli section. You can even buy the super big pizzas and chicken wrap things.
