KMK: A Trio of Teas

Food Victuals

As an effort to kick the soda habit I’ve been branching out and trying different types of drinks.

The tea market in Korea is chock full of competition with a dizzying array of brands and flavors right at the local Seven-Eleven.

One day, much to my surprise, I even accidentally grabbed some kind of corn flavored drink. Yuck didn’t not begin to describe that.

However I have stumbled upon a few that I actually like. First up is Ceylon Tea!

Made by the folks over at super conglomerate Lotte! Ceylon tea tastes crisp and cool and oh so delicious. And if you read the label you begin to understand why as “Ceylon tea, now dream of tea is distilled each pure drop a tear of joy a vision of paradise for men lost in their dreams sailing the Indian Ocean towards new horizons, Ceylon tea”.

Wow, no wonder psychedelic drugs are so hard to find in Korea, that Ceylon Tea has already got that market covered. They make it sound as if one sip will send your butt to Wonderland on the bliss express. It was good though, so you decide.

Next up is Cha’ On! I’ll be honest; I can’t really rave too much about this one. It tasted sort of blah. I really couldn’t detect anything distinctive or noteworthy to distinguish it from any old average tea. With all the options on the shelf I’m sure I can find something more appealing even if I randomly grab something off the counter.

Juar Tea completes our trio and I’ll have to place it second in the rankings. The bottle alone ranks it ahead of Cha’ On and as an added bonus the Juar Tea actually tastes pretty good. It’s no Ceylon, but it still goes down well on a hot day.

There are dozens more of tea drinks on the market and I haven’t even begun to climb that mountain of products, but I’ll be sure to have a Ceylon Tea on hand when I try.
