KMK: Cambodia – Sunrise & Sunset

International Travel

Sunset at Phnom Bakheng is one of the main highlights of the Angkor experience. Tons of tourists make the hike up the winding trail to the temple above. Some take elephants up and down while most just bear the walk.

The temple has five tiers and seven levels which represent the seven Hindu heavens.

The top of the temple was covered in tourists searching for a perfect spot to view the sunset.

Sunrise at Angkor Wat proved to be just as spectacular as the sunset.

We woke at Five am and cruised over to the temple, barely making it in time to catch the sunrise.

Be sure to catch both if you’re in Siem Reap.

  1. Your pics are great. Mine weren’t so spectacular – it occured to me that perhaps sunsets and sunrises are just not things one can anticipate. The most beautiful ones I have ever seen have always just happened randomly, not when I was trying to see beauty.
