KMK: Thanksgiving in Seoul 2011

Events Lifestyle

Hot on the heels of my 2011 Halloween post, I thought I’d post about this year’s Thanksgiving in Seoul 2011. All in all it was a great event. It’s tough being away from family during holidays and once you add in the fact that you’re out of your home country it becomes doubly hard. So it’s important to gather what comfort you can by finding a little taste of home and surrounding yourself with friends.

This year my roommate and I hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at our place. The food came courtesy of Popeye’s from on base. They had a special holiday deal which we took advantage of. Our spread included two turkeys, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, biscuits, mashed potatoes with gravy and a pumpkin pie thrown in to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Great conversation, good food, a warm tidy home leaves little more left to be thankful for, but we went around the room and each person spoke about what he or she was thankful for. The lists included of course the traditional family, friends, health, safety and even some non traditional ones like the real housewives.

What did you do for Thanksgiving? Where did you get your food or did you have a potluck? If you send me pictures I’ll post it here!
