KMK: KPOP Profile – TVXQ

Arts Music

Kpop opens whole new musical dimensions for SOKO newcomers. Syncing your brain in tune to all the different boy bands, girl groups, solo stars and starlets in the KPop universe makes for a mind blowing task that keeps most peeps never listening to much less loving KPOP.

That ends now! As a KPOP junkie it’s my duty to ensure you enjoy this musical junk food I love so much. I’m gonna blast you the 411 on the latest and greatest KPOP acts so you too can feast on this sonic cotton candy.

PROFILE: TVXQ

TVXQ, which stands for Tong Vfang Xien Qi, are also known as DBSK, which stands for Dong Bang Shin Ki (동방신기), have another name they go by in Japan, Tohoshinki. To add to the confusion three of the members broke off to form a group called JYJ!

That’s a whole lotta names, but no matter what they’re called these five, um two now, have been kpopping across South Korea and Asia since their big debut in 2003. The five members are Xiah, Micky, Hero, Max and U-Know (who has the best name ever).

This boy band wonder has conquered Korea and Japan with record breaking hits that keep on coming.

Their latest album: Keep Your Head Down dropped this year with only U-Know and Max holding it down. The other three split due to flack with their contract with SM Entertainment. Apparently they were under a 13 year contract. 13 freaking years! If that doesn’t tell you something about the pop star machinery  in South Korea  I don’t know what does!

Still, even without three members TVXQ brings it despite the stilted English which comes across a little awkward and U-Know’s Mattel action figure like appearance. I sear they must dipp him in plastic before he goes on. He’s so shiny! The MV is flashy and sizzling mostly due to the overwhelming CGI flames  that could’ve led to some flamer jokes, but thankfully did not.

The opening dance moves with all the stomps that kick up the dust along with the snaps of that whip come off really kick ass.  Plus with all the sexy back up dancers who really misses JYJ?

I do!
