On a recommendation from my gal pals Cleo and Papiso I made plans to go to At First Sight. Initially I planned to just pop in and check it out, but after all the hype they bestowed upon the place I decided to instead go with a date.
I have to say the ladies didn’t steer me wrong. At First Sight may be a bit of a misnomer since it’s on a B1 level and tucked out of sight, but what you get when you arrive makes up for the hide and seek game of finding it.
The entry way sign proclaiming they’re “all about cocktails” was a boast I can say they lived up to. Inside it’s a relaxed vibe. The music is low key, groovy and just at the right volume where you can actually have a conversation with the person at your table without the distractions of whatever happens to be going on at the table beside you. The lighting is dim with bursts of neon reds, yellows, and blues.
Then there are the drinks. I went with a mojito and with the fresh lime and honest to goodness mint leaves I sipped lost in a Caribbean fantasy much to the chagrin of my date who chose a Tokyo Ice tea and absolutely hated it. Though I think that has to do more with his distaste for Midori liqueur.
A few drinks later my friend and I were well on our way to a well lubricated first date, if you know what I mean, thanks to At First Sight!
I’ll be back.
The Good:
Weekday 50% off special! Cool Vibe!
The Bad:
It’s a little hard to find and a tad chilly!

Andy Warhol inspired pop art wall!
