Herbert : Shows Rolanda a piece of paper. It is a bachelor’s degree?
Rolanda : Yes because if you see here “Baccalaureus Technologiae” is Latin for Bachelor of Technology.
Herbert : How do you know that?
Rolanda : Well, I’m not a Latin expert or anything, but it’s just something I know? Researches the translation online and shows it to Herbert. See here? Many schools still use Latin on their degrees these days because Latin used to be the scholarly language and it was the English of its time.
Herbert : So it’s bachelor?
Rolanda : Yes, because baccalaureus/baccalaureate = bachelor.
Herbert : I think it’s not a bachelor’s. I think it’s another kind of bachelor that really isn’t a bachelor. Sneaky little bachelor’s degree!
Rolanda : Well, I don’t know the education system of that country by heart, but I can almost guarantee you that it’s a bachelor’s. In any case, I’ll look into it.
Rolanda leaves the office and is on her way to meet some friends for dinner when Herbert calls Rolanda…
