Editor’s Note: This post about the Top Ten Restaurants in Seoul, as you can tell by the date, is long overdue for an update.
I know what you’re going to say: how can one man possibly have eaten at every restaurant in Seoul? Well, you’re right! I haven’t. However, I have gotten around enough to compose my Top Ten Restaurants in Seoul.
So lets get to the runoff with my top 10 favorite restaurants in Seoul coming at you in no particular order:
10. Mad For Garlic
Who isn’t mad for garlic? If you love it as much as I do then you won’t go wrong. Despite being a chain I’ve grown to love Mad for Garlic. I’ve had countless great meals there and the garlic tower is an absolute must!
Seorae keeps you busy with an array of French cafes and restaurants. La Trouvaille has a reasonable and tasty brunch. The Eggs Benedict shouldn’t be missed!
The pancakes practically dance on your tongue. That’s how delicious the brunch at this Itaewon establishment rates. Do yourself a favor and order the banana walnut pancakes with ricotta cheese!
7. Yeti
In a duel to the death Yeti beat out Everest as my favorite Indian restaurant. The call was tough, but Yeti wins on taste and ambiance if not price. Still it’s definitely worth the won.
6. Todai
Yes, it’s international but Todai brings something to Seoul that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else: Seafood buffet! The sheer amount of variety should have you parked at a table at least once a month if not every week.
5. Burger B
Taking the prize for best burger in Seoul, according to KMK, is Burger B in Hongdae. Thankfully, I live close by but even if you don’t those juicy burgers will have you crossing the city in search of true burger bliss.
4. Taco Rico
When it comes to Mexican food in Seoul there is nothing better than Taco Rico. Allen, Jong-sun, and Oscar will make you feel like you’re dining in the sun drenched streets of some far off Mexican city.
3. Sanchon
Don’t let the background scare you away. Buddhist temple food really isn’t stuffy as you may think. The vegetarian delights will have you back again and again.
2. Samarilkant
If you’ve never had Uzbek food then this is the place to try! Order the Chez Biz.
1. Star Chef
The cuisine at Star Chef will have you salivating in anticipation. The smells are heavenly and the taste divine. Korean Fusion never tasted so good.
Dude, out of your top 10 restaurants in Seoul you basically have no authentic Korean restaurants – is that not weird to you?
If you came across a top 10 restaurants in NY and all I had were Indian restaurants I’m sure you’d be feeling the same way I do now.
Anyhow, I’m not taking a shot at you, I’ve actually read through your list and may try 1 or 2 of them in my upcoming trip but it’s definitely not the list I was looking forward to from someone who’s done a proper food round in Seoul
Hey corgi
I hear what you’re saying. Im thinking of redoing the list because it would be completely different today. Still, I can only rank the places I’ve actually been to.
In fact I think you’ve given me the impetus to redo it and focus it more on a particular area or style of food.
Hi there,
#1 best restaurant in Seoul has to be Pierre Gagnaire at Lotte Hotel. There's nothing like it here.
I can only rank places that I've been to, but if I get the opportunity I'll definitely check out Pierre Gagnaire.
