A year goes by quickly. Before I knew it the time had come for another Seoul Animation festival. Last year I had a spectacular time so I was hyped up for this year’s festival. Now if you don’t know much about the fest its where artists and exhibits from across the glove show up to highlight their work. Some festival goers even dress up in the costume of their favorite character in an atmosphereof frivolity and whimsy. And its all in Seoul!
This year I’m sorry to report that the festival didn’t quite live up to 2008. This didn’t have anything to do with the change in venue. On the contrary, the new location at Coex mall provided ample space to house anything and everything the festival organizers wanted to showcase. The problem being that they just didn’t drum up enough participation to give the festival the diversity it possesed last year. Most notable was the lack of a sizable Japanese anime section.
Despite all this my friend Shiwon and I still had a good time. Festival highlights for me were the interactive Wii style boxing game that would put any aerobic class to shame and the demo of Aion the new MMO due out any week.Next year I hope the festival comes back with a vengeance, bigger and better than ever.
Great idea! I’ve got the characters but my drawing skills suck big time!
