Thai Garden is in Itaewon right next to the Itaewon Hotel and above Kabinett. As the the name suggests TG specializes in Thai food. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious with more than enough room for large parties of friends or coworkers. The decor is pretty low key and almost somber, but you won’t be going for the wall hangings so lets get down to the food!
One thing I loved was that most of the dishes also had pictures of the item in the menu. That made envisioning just what your meal might look like a lot easier, especially with some of the more arcane sounding dishes. Curries, noodle based dishes and rice dishes along with soups make up the bulk of Thai Garden’s selections. Red and green curries, massaman, khao pad gai, and of course pad thai are just a few of things you should consider. I had the pad thai and have to say I was satisfied. Not enthused, but not disappointed, just satisfied.
Maybe I have to be more adventurous and try something completely different if I go again. They also have a selection of appetizers like fried spring rolls which were quite tasty. I have to also recommend getting the thai ice which I never forget to order when having thai food.
Prices are around 15,000 to 20,000 so Thai Garden won’t break the bank. Also with a big group you can all order different dishes and share, which is half the fun with eating Thai food. That way you get to sample lots of things so you can narrow down what delights and what disappoints your taste buds.
