KMK: Korean Commercials

When I usually travel I seldom if at all watch tv. Why sit in front of the magic box when there are sights you’ve never seen before outside? However, since I’ve been living in Korea and my apartment came furnished with a TV I find myself turning it on and perusing the Korean airwaves.

Whats on? MacGyver! Yes. Wonder Woman! Even better, I know. I haven’t seen a Wonder Woman episode since I was knee high in elementary school and used to race home after school to watch Diana Prince do her costume changing spin. Yes, I am man enough to have just written that. The channels also play host to every form of Crime/Medical drama known to man including House, The Wire, ER, Grey’s Anatomy, the ever popular Prison Break, every Law & Order, and even CSI Mayberry.

Okay, I kid about the Mayberry, but believe me Andy and Barney would shit their pants if they had to walk crime scenes like transexual hooker hung with licorice whips from a monkey bar playground set. What would Aunt Bea say!

So, despite the abundance of pleasurable mind numbig television I find myself drawn to the Commericals! Insane, yes I know. I loathe commercials back home so much so that I, like everyone else I know, had the lovable TIVO ready to fast forward past any and all commericals that dared let themselves be recorded. In Korea, however, I would have to sedate my TIVO and let the commericals hit me full steam because, I tell you, I haven’t seen commericals like these.
