The Banyon is one of the most mystical and mysterious of the temples in Angkor Thom. The highlight are the over two hundred huge smiling face carved into the stone. The faces glare down upon the surrounding area from every angle imaginable.
From a distance it doesn’t seem like much, but once you start to get close you begin to see the majesty and wonder of the structure.
It was built under the authority of King Jayavarman VII.
Sometimes it didn’t look like anything made on earth, but the construct hive of some alien species.
