KMK: Jeju Island | Pensions, Resorts, Motels

pensions

Pensions, Resorts, Motels, oh my! Finding a place to stay on Jeju can be a daunting task. There are literally hundreds of options to choose from, ranging from pricey hotels with too many stars to count to off the road shacks you might want to think twice about staying in.

Still, especially during the off season, a deal can be found and had that lifts the strain off your pocketbook. Below are the three places we stayed at!

Millennium Ville

Our first pension was in Seogwipo Si Bomok-dong 1502. Right down near the sea. It’s on the southern side of the island.

At only 50,000won a night we got a great deal. The room was spacious with enough room to sleep at least six more than the two of us. Though they would be sleeping on the floor, go ondol! Our room also had a patio with a view of the sea. The only real complaint was the dog on the premises that barked far too much. Other than that it was a great place to stay.

Spring and Autumn

Our second pension was right on the shoreline. Spring and Autumn is a midsized pension. Our room came with a patio with a little seating area to watch the sunrise come up over the sea. Right across the street from pension was the sea. The view was great.

Outside of that there wasn’t really anything distinct or noteworthy. The off season rate for us was 60,000won a night.

Jeju Marine Resort

The Jeju Marine resort is a floating hotel anchored out in the sea near Sunrise Peak. Once you book your accommodations a ship transports you out to the main boat. The boat leaves at five and six pm. After that you have to call the ship to arrange passage until 11pm.

On board the reception and dining area are combined with a spiral staircase to the second floor where the rooms are. The rooms are quite nice with a big bay window and a twin bed. The bathroom is small but comes with a self-contained shower stall and an awesome shower head.

On board activities include fishing, jet boats, and a sea food restaurant. Each room comes with a balcony where you can step outside and enjoy the sea breeze. If you want to get off the ship they have three small boats that can take you back to port. The restaurant serves fish grilled and sashimi style along with Korean traditional fish soup. The meal was delicious. The cook even deboned the fish for us. The prices are a little more than on land but it was worth it.

I should mention that the marine resort, being on the sea and all, does rock. Not the rocking of being on the high seas during a hurricane but it is noticeable. If you are prone to sea sickness the folks at the Marine Resort have four points for you to keep in mind.

  1. Fresh air
  2. Look up
  3. Chew gum
  4. If you’ve tried the above then accept your fate and live with the sickness because it’s your destiny.

The price during the off season was 95,000W per night if you used a tour sight online. If you call directly the price will be more expensive even during the off season.
