Before it happened to me I had no idea about the Phuket Club Absolute Holiday scan. So, you can imagine I was in for a shock when one morning I rose up early to head to the beach for some fun in the not so hot early morning sun. On the way I was stopped by an English man who asked if I too spoke English. Thinking he might be lost and I might be able to help I replied that I did. Pleased, he whips out a scratch card and says that I’ve been given the opportunity to win a big prize.
My skepticism meter went from 0 to 75 in a second. I told him I wasn’t interested in buying anything. He reassured me that all I had to do was scratch off the cards and I could win a free prize. Scratching off a couple of cards seemed harmless enough. The first one revealed a free T-shirt. Whoopee I get to be the advertising billboard for some company.
The second card however revealed three stars and that I had amazingly won one of five great prizes, all for free! Okay, how do I claim this prize I asked. The guy explained all I had to do was go to their hotel and listen to a 90 minute presentation. Now the prizes included a digital camera, a camcorder, a dream holiday vacation, or 1,000 US dollars.
For 90 minutes, I thought why not? They whisked me off in a taxi and in moments I arrived at the Club Absolute hotel. A young woman took my scratch cards after asking if I first was over thirty and second had a valid Visa card I could show her. Odd I thought if all this is for free. She only needed to see the Visa logo she assured me and nothing else. Fine. After that she told me my guide would show me around and then I could collect my prize.
Gavin, my English guide from the UK, was a genial old fellow with stories to tell. He proceeded to show me around the hotel, telling me about when it was established and how there are dozens of others across Thailand and the world. We jumped into a taxi and sped off to see one of there new properties being built. Yes, it did seem nice.
We sped off again to another older property the first one purchased by the owner apparently, Yes, it too was nice if a bit empty. Now by this time it’s well past 90 minutes, but I was in to see it finished by then. Back at the main property Gavin began his spiel about asking how often I vacationed, how much I spent, and if I thought Club Absolute seemed like a great idea.
He wanted me to talk his manager before we parted. Here is when the hard sell went into full force. I believe that manager could sell a bee honey. He was so on it. Didn’t I like their property? Couldn’t I easily spend 16,000 US for a forty year investment? I could let my relatives use it. I would get ten free weeks to give away to friends or family. I could even give it away in my will.
I tried to explain that just spending that much money without any research wasn’t a good idea for me. Two years ago I had next to nothing and to simply spend a third of what I have on some impulsive vacation time share no matter how good it sounds, just wasn’t going to happen. He then slashed the price, telling me that if put five grand down now I could be on a wait and see plan for three years where in at the end I could pay the rest or simply walk away. I again said no. I have to admit it was tempting, but I didn’t know who the heck these people were. I only just heard of them that morning.
He slashed the price again to two and a half thousand dollars. Now I am thinking to myself why are you so intent on getting my money. Didn’t you just say you didn’t need my money? That four out of ten people accept the offer? After another no he abruptly storms off saying that he’ll give me to four o’clock today to change my mind.
Gavin, who had been sitting through all of this silently, meekly told me that I could claim my prize at four o’clock. No way. After all that time and that drama intense session with his manager I wanted the prize immediately. Well, back in the office the lady revealed that I had won: a dream holiday vacation with their hotel.
OH JOY!
I wonder how many people win the cash? None, I’m betting. She gave me the paperwork and I left feeling slimy and slightly used. After glancing over the paperwork I’ve come to the conclusion this “free” dream holiday is just another opportunity to put your through another high pressure sales pitch. Not to mention the disclaimer that some “processing” fees would have to be paid to claim the “free dream holiday”.
I went back to my hotel and immediately googled Absolute Club scam and came up with hundreds of hits. I’m so glad those people didn’t get anything but my time, though even that was too much.
Beware!
I think now I’m going to take my Absolute Club Tee take a marker and write SCAM on it and wear it for the rest of my trip here.
this bullshit! it happened to me too! I can’t believe this is so old and they are still doing this shit!
Thank you for posting
You’re welcome! I still remember this scam!
I got scammed by Absolute while on vacation. They lied about every aspect of the package in order to appeal to me. They claimed to have resorts that are not even affiliated with this company. They also claimed part of the membership was 2 for 1 cruises for life, which was an outright lie. I am handling a dispute through my credit card to hopefully get my deposit refunded. These people are scum. Please like and visit my facebook complaint page for Absolute. I would like to raise awareness and hopefully prevent anyone else from becoming a victim of Absolute. Thank you http://www.facebook.com/pages/Absolute-Destinations-Scammed-Complaint-and-Victims-page/113902915478134
I approve! Way to go! How they manage to keep using these distasteful practices is beyond me.
So, did anyone get their money back after contacting the australian police in Phuket?
i have travellerd though thailand many times and been many places wher timshare scams are rife .went koh samui in january where i witnessed a scum trying to sell a english couple scrathie timeshare so i went behind hid back and shook my head to say no to the girl and she and her partner walke off..he was not very happy he came on to me saying i had cost him 3000 baht i walked wright up to him he soon got himself and his scooter and left like a coward i thought good cost him money but also saved two complete strangers a lot of money and hassle
find it very interesting to read this blog and also very amusing haha, the word scam keeps comming up regularly? my interpretation of a scam is losing money to something that doesnt exist? but cant seem to find anyone here who paid money and then didnt get anything??
I disagree. Just because some didn’t fall prey doesn’t mean it isn’t a scam. On the other hand some believed they didn’t get what they paid for while others are happy with the outcome of their dealings with Absolute. I think all viewpoints are covered in the comments.
My husband and I went on the presentation while holidaying in Phuket.
We did not puchase anything and found the whole thing entertaining.
We were not pressured to go as it was our choice.Got a lovely holiday at the
end of it so will be coming back to Phuket again. Not a lot of pressure but if you don’t
want to go just say no.
stayed at bangla suites lovely resort and friendly staff.
Can’t question the service very polite people
Yep wasted three hours of our holiday, well not really, we were tired walking around the shops in patong when we got “kidnapped” As per others got shown a few resorts but got the free drinks and t shirt plus the “free holiday”. Thanks for the free tour Absolute. Our kidnapper on the street was Marco, he was swiss? and our salesman was a sleaze called Mike, expat NZer has lived in aus. Should have been dealt to at birth. along with the boss some pommy git slime. Declined the initial offer of purchasing this magnificent scheme for $35000. the got reduced to $15000. (Not usually available you know.. just a special for you, nudge nudge wink wink..) When all turned down they wanted me to upgrade my free week to a vip pass for an extra 500euro. Make sure you decline this also. Got a free ride back to our resort in Karon. No money lost.
So much negativity! We are on our second free absolute holiday. Have sat through 2 presentations, first one was a bit pushy, but we were getting free accommodation in a magnificent resort, so we played the game. That was 2 years ago. Last year we were contacted by email to claim our free holiday. Why not? We can sit through another presentation. We did. And we are now enjoying our beautiful FREE holiday at Sea Pearl Villas. The Absolute staff are salespeople, that’s how they earn a living. At all times we have found them wonderful, even when we didn’t buy anything. If it is really a scam, then I guess we have scammed them back!
Hi I just bought voucher from Absolute for a weeks accommodation at one the hotels in Phuket for $149. I was told I would have to sit through a presentation, my worry here is if I don’t buy anything from them will suddenly get a bill from the hotel ( saying I owe them a lot of money? )
Has anyone every experienced this?
We were approached by a lady in Patong telling us that we should go on a free trip to this wonderful island called Coconut Island. She also said that we could either choose between a free trip to Phi Phi Island or a free Spa treatment if we do go to Coconut Island. Her words were that they were trying to promote the Island to get more feet onto the island as everyone is always going to Phi Phi Island and they want to get Coconut Island on the same level. We asked her if this had something to do with holiday timeshare but she said not at all, also not mentioning anything about Absolute. If I could see her now I swear I would strangle her for spoiling a day of our holiday. Anyway we fell for her smooth talking and decided to go to Coconut Island. Oh yes, she also tried to get us to cancel our Phi Phi Island excursion that we already booked and paid for so that we could rather do her trip for free. So when we got to Coconut Island we went to a resort called The Village which is part of Absolute. There we had to sit and listen to a very cocky Absolute (idiot) salesman Andrew. Luckely we didn’t fall for the sales pitch even though they made it sound great.
Please don’t fall for this scam, if someone tries to get you to go to Coconut Island The Village, just avoid them.
Words of wisdom: “If something sounds too good to be true, then it most probably is!!”
yes it’s one big scam they try and pressure you in to signing up for something that’s not there
Hello.. My partner & I recently went to Phuket and encounted Absolute.. We found them to be honest people & promptly parted with our money… We are now on our way to South Africa for a holiday of a life time… We made our money back in one holiday… the next holiday that we’ll take will be next year to America for the stampeed… 4wks for the price of a ticket spending money & $600AUD for accomadation…a saving of $7000AUD It’s working for us… Paula 🙂
It’s obvious to many thousand people that were scammed by them that you work for them to even say they are honest get a life
I ABSOLUTEly hate them. They ruined my holiday.
beware they will drain your bank account dry the Australian police are now in Thailand to shut them down my brother in law was assaulted by the the salesman and his wife was pushed back in her chair we need to shut the scammers down quick
Hi there, You’ve performed an incredible job. I’ll definitely digg it and for my part recommend to my friends. I’m confident they’ll be benefited from this site.
If You have been scammed simply ring your credit card provider and areport a fraud on your account. I did it when we got back from our honeymoon and got the money back of my credit card. I hope this helps Absolute really suck they leave people alone
Hi I am Tootsie who previously commented on this site when we were scammed by absolute in July 2010.Despite a visit to their office in Phuket in August of that same year (at our own expense) and a claim through our visa for a refund of the $1500 we paid we were unsuccessful. We have not paid any money since then despite threats and have been to Phuket twice most recently a couple of weeks ago with friends whom we warned about absolute. However they were approached numerous times (as we were too) and they went to the office of absolute to see what it was all about. They have supposedly got themnselves a week’s free holiday so am anxiously waiting for them to apply for the holiday to see what happens next as we didn’t even try to get ours.It is such a shame that these scammers are allowed to continue to operate and what’s more the people working for them on the streets should be made leave the country as well, generally loud mouthed yanks, australians and french.Ashamed of them all.

Think me stupid if you like but my partner and I got bitten by absolute while on holiday in Thailand in May. Same story, won a prize. But unfortunately for us they were so damn good at their job and coerced us into parting with our money. Our Englishman was Adam. We are now stuck paying for something we don’t want and will never use. The worst part is we have to pay in Euro, not is AU dollars as we were told. They are nothing but liars and scammers, so beware. Sadly we go sucked in.
We just come back from Thailand on the 15th of may 2012 my sister and brother in-law were talked in to signing up by an English man i think his name was Andrew of Absolute Holidays they parted out $1250 they even followed them to the ATM machine in Patong standing over them while they drew the money out they were pressured in to signing up, he even told them when you get back to Australia go and get a 20 grand loan to pay for it in full, they were then given an I PAD which they didn’t want and when they got back to the resort they felt sick in the guts we then went for a walk down Bangla road in Patong at about 9pm and guess who was there Australian Police Volunteers we went over to them as soon as we mentioned Absolute Holidays they said another one that’s been scammed they said the Aus police in Bangkok have a portfolio 6inches thick of people who have been scammed we now have the name and phone number of the AUS policeman in Bangkok who is leading the investigation so if your been scammed by them please email me and i will give you there phone number so we can take them down, any way my sister went down to there office in patong and told them to stick there ipad i want my money back they said no refund there were heaps of idiots signing up so she yelled out Absolute Holidays are scammers he then run over to her and said F—en sit down and keep your mouth shut she said no i won’t so she walked over to a couple who were signing up and told them they got up and walked out and guess what they gave her money back and told her to keep her mouth shut so she had a win in the end
I’ve been scammed 🙁 so is there an investigation going on in Australia?
Hi, can you please give me the number in Thailand asap? I am in Phuket for a couple more days and understand there’s a cooling off period here and will tomorrow want to cancel it however if i can have the AUS policeman here that’d be great. Posted 10.30 pm 28/6/12. Thanks in anticipation, Peter.
Hi, I just bought into Absolute last week, and now I find their a scam, I even started selling some of my weeks to cover maintenance costs. Has anyone tried to use their package, please post a comment, I’m so annoyed, and my husband is so angry at me.
sorry you signed up for something that’s not there if you need help just email me i have the Policeman leading the investigation phone number
What I have just read is exactly what happened to us in Hong Kong last week. I cant believe they can continue to harass tourists and interrupt their holidays with all this pressures bullshit and con tricks.
Absolute encounters in Koh Samui; I knew it is a scam but I went through it just so a poor street salesperson can get over 3000 Baht payment from Absolute. I ensured the presentation was paced right so I do not spend more than 100 minutes with them. I asked for contract terms and conditions when the sales person looked to close the deal. He did not and I walked away.
Club absolute are a bunch of scamming pricks. You cannot contact their contract office for any sort of membership reimbursement as they had stated that you could sell your membership easily at anytime. Easy to sell my arse. I am going to turn up at their phuket office and sell it my self for ten thousand euros or until they reimburse me. I might hang out at tri trang beach and deter future customers.
An B, do you mean start up a class action against them? I had thought about but figured that doing something like this against an overseas company (I live in Australia) would be complicating. Not sure how this sort of thing works, but I imagine we would need legal representation locally as well as in Thailand so that the process is coordinated. And if the class members come from different countries (as I expect they would), that would be make it even more interesting !
Is it possible to get a lawyer all together to get them to pay a huge amount of money back to the people they scammed?

Same story as most of you. I was holidaying with my wife in Phuket last year and got accosted by an European backpacker who said he was just earning some pocket money for his vacation. He asked us to do a scratchie, and of course we came up with the free holiday offer. No need for me to repeat the same narrative as most of you experienced.
What was different in our circumstances was that we were already members of the Accor Vacation Club. We had been disgruntled with their services at the time and the Absolute people were quick to pick up on that. They spent the next 2 hours scaring us into believing that Accor had locked us into a 80 year membership from which there was no escape, and that all our liabilities in the club would be transferred to our children once we passed away.
There was no doubt they were incredibly knowledgeable about the timeshare industry and could even describe to us how the Accor membership worked, most of which was true. Because they were credible in the understanding of the Accor structure, we made the bad mistake of assuming that they were also right in explaining our life sentence with Accor.
They also went to great lengths to explain they could take over the Accor membership from us and forcibly deal directly with Accor on our behalf, and 'unshackle' us from their grip ! To legitimise this claim, they even put it in writing in our contract to the effect that there was a 'buy back' value from Accor, which they would credit us, and in effect give us a discount off our Absolute membership.
18 months have passed, and after countless emails back and forth with Absolute, they have not been able to take ownership of our Accor membership. Needless to say, Accor has also been on our backs for not paying our annual maintenance fees, and this action was based on Absolute's advice to ignore all correspondence from Accor since they will now assume responsibility for our dues.
3 weeks ago, we took up the free holiday offer we received from the scratchie prize claimed last year, and of course, I confronted Absolute when we arrived in Phuket. I told them they had not done what they promised to do, and in fact had reneged on their obligation, to which they replied to the effect that they had done everything they could do and it wasn't their fault that Accor refused to cooperate.
As someone in this post said, hindsight is a wonderful thing and if only it worked ahead of time ! I'm now looking for a way to get myself out of this mess, short of involving the Thai authorities – although I'm not so sure that would do any good. I'm also not looking forward to any confrontation with debt collectors as my annual fees are due soon too.
Would love to hear from anyone who has had success in untangling themselves from Absolute, and maybe even recovered part or all of their membership fees in the process.
Email me my sister got here money back
My husband and I was scammed in July 2010,we lost $4000 (U.S)we are pensioners how they be so ruthless, I am so, so angry. I hope they rot in hell.does anyone know the address or telephone number for the CEO.
Hi Farmer,
My husband and I too got scammed , how can we get our money back we paid by credit card.
look forward to hearing from you.
Arlene
Oh my goodness! I have just come back after four hours with these idiots! I did not part with my money and gave them serious attitude towards the end! Thank God for my intuition…they honestly keep a professional little establishment going but it was all tooshiny from the start…at least it was my time wasted and nothing more sad but people around us were actaully signing up.
I was a lucky one who was a bit cautious and looked them straight up on the
Website but I’m more than happy if there is a group of you guys who have lost money and we get enough numbers to walk in and just take all there computers so u can try and recoup some of your money .
I must admit this is my first holiday back in Phuket for many years and I’m so shocked how westernized it’s become and they are letting criminals like this on there streets . lets do something about these thieving arseholes .
It’s such a beautiful place to be soured by these unscrupulous characters !
Hi yes we too were scammed in August 2010.Paid half deposit but will not pay anymore.Have just received the letter demanding final balance or interest and debt collectors will apply.Do not feel as though we owe them anysort of explanation but will definately contact our credit card company and let them know this is a scam. Will let you know how it goes.
Funny, Just back from Phuket this morning, did the Absolute RIP OFF SCAM tour with Stephan, who claimed he was just filling in as short staffed, yet I see his name above.
Thankfully they didn't scam money from us, as we're avid researchers before doing anything!! That itself got Mr Stephans heckles up "you're either a YES or NO" was his bully tactic!
But the same as everyone else, T-shirt and 3stars. And yes, our 3 stars was a 'free holiday' at one of their resorts!! Which i'd like to add, of the ones we saw, a very poor standard!
Warn everyone you know, to STAY AWAY!
hey anonymous
i have been trying to warn folks of the bullying tactics these scumbags use first with the drive by on the motor bikes asking you to scratch a winning ticket, of course they are all winning tickets.
no one gives you something for nothing but people on holiday are gullible' it's not only Absolute there are quite a few other TIMESHARE con artists around
in fact there are many of them and they are all making a very good living, The Thai government will do nothing to stop them as they are even more corrupt from the top down, so these scammers will continue for many many years fleecing tourist's.
Lets face it I would not want to sign for a timeshare even if it were a palace for 39 years i like change in my life not to visit groundhog day each year
well they scammed my sister and brother in law in patong but they never got me after following me along the foot path on there motorbike i stood near the security guard at the Ban Thai resort we were staying at they then rode off
Hi,
Very cool information. Thanks for this. Keep up the good work.
Thanks
Antany
Hi,
I have bookmarked it and also added your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read more, Please do keep up the great work. .
Thanks
Antany
Cool, thanks for dropping by and adding the feed! I hope you come back soon to look around!
This was all covered on a very famous episode of South Park. Maybe none of u saw it~
I’m definitely going to go look for it now!
I am looking for the episode as well
I have a membership for Absolute
and I would suggest anyone thinking of putting there money into this scheme keep there hand on their wallet. Management fees of 200 euros a year and when you try to book nothing is available
Better off finding your own accommodation and Thailand Government is not prepared to do anything to stop this scam from Club Absolute
I live in Phuket and have taken guests to Big Buddha – imagine my surprise when there was an Absolute Homes stand on the top – http://timinphuket.blogspot.com/2010/06/big-budda…. I took my guests away from the 'agent' and told them why – much to the chagrin of the agent. Two weeks later the stand is closed – keep up with the complaining.
I am in Phuket at the moment and have been here for 3 months, I see these fraudsters tring to con idiot tourists who sign away their money. who in their right mind would buy a time share anyway !! these con men make a very good living out of tourists in Patong and surounding areas, Just look around the bars close to Absolute corner on beach rd on most evenings you will see the drunks who work for Absolute having the times of their lives at your expense, there was one salesman bragging how he had made a 17000 euro commission that day. people please wake up, you get nothing for nothing stay away from these con men.
There is also a wine bar called wine connection near Bang tao beach, i have given up taking a peaceful leasurly breakfast there as most of the tables are taken up by these soft drink buying salesmen who talk way too loud with their total bullshit. good luck to anyone who gets their money back.
I Agree with all that has been said.
Just like to know has any one actually gone on the free 7 night holiday to Phuket?
We to were conned into a "90 min" speel which lasted 6 hoursin Phuket. OMG. We didnt sign up much to the horror and disgust by all staff who actually ended up getting very nasty.
And no tried to book the free 7 nights back there after wasting a lot of time and money on phone calls to Phuket was unable to book it. They continually fobbed me off wouldn't respond to my emails, refered my calls to another department, after months of this was abruptly told the expiry time to book had past.
Just another scam.
Good luck getting yours.
deb
I would like to know how to get out of this one!
We joined Absolute in Hong Kong on 17/8/2009(scratch cards 90min introduction etc.) for 10 Years, paid 1000Euro on Credit Card and so far have made 7 monthly payments, through Internet banking.
Reason for this late wake-up, we continued our 6 weeks holiday O/S and did not pay much attention to what we did.
Except now, while in Phuket enjoying our free 1 week Holiday found out that this mob is a time share Co.
and not very honest at all, bookings not honored deferred or people finishing up in shonky accommodation. We have 5 more payments to go–but will not do so–. We would like to get out of this situation and get our money back??!!
Anyone for comment on this?
We seem to be suckers for punishment.
I can only agree with every negative comment above. These are scamsters who prey on people who are in a holiday mood. Always a free T-shirt and a ‘free’ luxury holiday. Mind you, we got a free coffee out of it. Needless to say, we refused to consider signing ANYTHING without an opportunity to think it over and do our due diligence. At $AUD18,000 for a 39 year ‘membership’, you have to think more than twice about parting with that sort of money to people you just met on the street.
Its 9 May 2010 and my wife and I have just returned from the Absolute “Titanic” (if you encountered Cliff / Clive and Gavy, they would tell you that the crappy joint, with “rent-a-visitor”, in the pool, reminded them of the Titanic). As well it should. It will closed next year. Also notice the “heavies” hanging around the bogus reception area!
As a hint, if there are packing cases in the sales area you should be suspicious!!
Apart from enjoying their free drinks (whoopie!) do NOTHING else. If you really enjoy scamming the con artists, find out all you can about the sales boys – ours was Cliff / Clive.
The Aussies at the same presentation were lapping up the cheap deals – come on guys, give your money to the poor, it will give more of a return.
By the way, Gavin is now a sales MANAGER (and from London), just keep saying “No” and he will soon get pissed Off!
SCAM THE SCAMMERS!!
Hi again,
here’s one solution which I will do tomorrow- go to Patong, find the scratchers, tell them I have won 1000 USD and want to take them for a drink. After a 3 hour drive, drop them off at the highest hill in Phuket!! and adiose amigos!
You have all made comment that these people are scammers, but has anyone tried to book hotels, does the system work, what is availability like, are the rates significantly cheaper etc etc. This is the reported purpose of the vacation club, surely that is the important information you could share?
I have just booked apartments in Bali for a large party. So far have had no trouble and things have been great Jacki
Jacki- What was the standard of the accomodation like?
Jacki I too have just had two weeks vacation and had lovely accomodation and actually met others members some who had been in for 10 years and loved it!!!!
The Australian Police who were in Bangla road Patong told us you can’t book something that’s not there
I was scamed too and when they took me and my family to another hotel for the tour I noticed some odd things:
1. There was no actual guest walking around in the hotel.
2.The people on tours all had to go in 1 room.
3. The “members” were wearing uniforms.
The more I hear about these people the more sickened I become.
Same exact thing happen to us but we sined up and gave them a deposit. I have been trying to find the correct agency to report them to.
Tammy did you get any refund on the deposit you gave them. ?
We thought what the heck, it's a hot day, enjoy a free drink and a transfers to a part of Hong Kong we haven't seen. We're "so lucky" we have "won great prizes". Guess what we won a tshirt and a holiday!!! Yeah, to their resort, (in the middle of no-where!!!) Yes and the GOLD COAST of Hong Kong is a poor excuse of a reclaimed waterhole with doggy decor. Hard sell all the way through, but turn the tables on them, let them jaw on about the product and tell them after your free drink and leisurely afternoon relaxing using their money, it is ABSOLUTELY fraudulent and you have no intention of spending any money. Before you consider spending money, use this as your best advice – don't walk away, RUN AWAY. PS I am disgusted with the Aussie Absolute workers who try and rip off their own Aussie Holiday makers, shame on you!!!! We'll be complaining to the Hong Kong Tourism Association too as this was marketed as promoting Hong Kong tourism. Also a complaint to the issuing credit card authorities as they are also promoted as 'supporting the Absolute product'.
Madge I think the complaint is the way to go. I should have done it at the time but I am going to write to the thailand Tourism board and give them a mouth full about Club Absolutely worthless.
I hope more do the same!
To be honest I knew it was a scam from the beginning and we had no intention whatsoever in purchasing their product or service. In our case the scammers were scammed, we got free drinks when we really needed them a free T-shirt a ride round a few resorts. We were looking for something to do so we wasted some of their time and money. It also gave us some idea's on a few beach visits we saw on the way. So if you are not an idiot and have a few hours to spare, need a few free drinks and T-shirt try them out. When its all finished tell them they have been scammed.
They give you two scratch cards one is 100% free T-shirt the second is the triple star winners card (Your all winners), the touts will tell you that certain prizes have already gone (No they haven't) and that the expensive prizes have yet to be won (No they won't). The only prize is a one week holiday with strings attached.
By the way the holiday is offered under a different company name (JustGo) so that you have no come back on Absolute.
The lettering in uppercase is where their get out clause is.

To be honest what reputable firm has to rely on scratch cards being offered by street touts, how cheap they show themselves. It was fun listening to their crap, that same old salesman jargon crap we are so used to. The only trouble it works, in some cases.
What honest reputable firm uses cattle trucks to take you to the resorts, it shows how cheap they are and how inconsiderate they are to their prospective customers.
THE COSTS.
The idea they have is: You pay a 39 year upfront fee of £10,700, a maintenance fee of £315 a year(Which increases every year). When you book a holiday (Which you most likely won't get what you booked), they give you a free week and then you pay anything from £90 to £500 for any extra weeks.
Under no circumstances pay any money to these cheap scamsters. To be really honest don't get involved at all, walk on by blind and deaf.
I am so glad that I am not the only one who went through this 2 hour torture which was supposed to take 90 minutes.
Promises of a free holiday, wined and dined, they even took me on a boat trip.
This all made me feel obliged to hear them out, but when 2 hours passed and they repeated the same things over and over in their sales pitch I could take it no longer.
I demanded for them to get to the point and tell me what it was going to cost, but they just continued with the pitch. I threw a huge tantrum and walked out.
I am warning everyone of these thieves. I’ts just a pity that they use the local people in their scam as well.
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS TRIED TO TAKE LEGAL PROCEEDINGS AGAINST THESE PEOPLE?
Hello Sik Family & any others
Got caught up in the same deal – same story as the others
Is it absolutely correct that a cooling off period applies for Absolue holiday club contracts ? I have received/located conflicting information. Just want to be sure of the facts if I wish to take this further.
Absolute claim that if the balance is not paid under Thai law we will be arrested at the airport when next in Thailand due to upaid debts ?? fact or scare tactic
Would be great to hear from others who have successfully tackled absolute
Absolutely conned from AustraliaNo matter what is said and done to support Absolute in Phuket the truth is the truth and it cannot be hurt by attack – they are con artists through and through and prowl on happy holidaymakers in a most beautiful setting. Stay absolutely far away from Absolute and warn anyone you know who intends to go to Phuket on holidays to be absolutely careful of scratch card carrying friendly people. Go to the beach instead it's cheaper in the long run. Thanks for this post it gives us a chance to be heard and warn others at the same time. Yes I am one of those who have complained to Absolute about losing my deposit and received in response legal threats but I am not frightened of their bully tactics. To anyone from Absolute reading this – you can only fool someone once and once is enough. Absolute you and I do have one thing in common and that is you and I both know you are con artists and you hate it that people like me know. For an absolutely wonderful holiday stay away from Absolute!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the absolute truth
I beg to differ, I have just spent two weeks in different locations, being a member of Absolute and cannot fault the service nor then accomodation. I to was dubious on getting home and reading sites like this but I have found t akk to be incorrect and that this is a fantastic opportunity to take holidays in many locations that otherwise would have been out of my reach!!

Yeh, just read the whole thread………..ours is the same story. Hindsight is a wonderful gift – If a deal appears too good to be true, it usually is! We were also suckers on the day. At the sales presentation, I was eyeing off a lonesome laptop, but wasn’t able to use it even for 5 mins, as I would have Googled Absolute & walked (run) away. However, our salesman repeated 3 times that Absolute was ‘sponsored’ by Amex, Visa & Mastercard & if the company wasn’t legit, do we think that these credit card companies would support them? He also said that if we had any problems once we got home, we had recourse through our credit card company. We got back to Oz 3 days later, immediately Googled Absolute & found out we’d been ripped! We paid the deposit with our c/card, so if you paid with your credit card, the following may be of some help to you:
1./ Although Absolute claim there is no cooling off period – there IS. (That’s just their opinion)
2./ If you get stung, write to Absolute immediately, stating that you are exercising your rights to cancel the agreement & give them 14 days to refund money.
3./ DO NOT state your reasons – they will hassle you for a reason – you DO NOT have to state a reason.
4./ Also say that should they chose to ignore this notice, you shall have Amex/MC/Visa ‘claw’ back your funds. If 2 of you signed the agreement, ensure you both sign this letter.
5./ You must do this within the first 14 days.
6./ E-mail this to them, fax it to them & also post a copy (keep a copy also).
They will get pushy & threaten legal action, they will continue to request a reason-DO NOT give them a reason. They will also request another installment payment – DO NOT pay it, give them NO more money. Once you have done that, contact your C/Card company & suell them onto Absolute. It may take your C/Card company some time to investigate the matter & you will have to state your circumstances in writing, again you don’t have to state a reason, just tell them that Absolute claim there is no cooling off period, when in fact there is. Be patient & good luck. Hopefully you will have some success-we did. And let us learn from the lesson!!
Sensible advice written by Sik family, Mon 27 Jul 2009If you paid with your credit card, then contact your C/Card carrier as Club Absolute are fraudsters, claiming they are 'sponsored' by the 3 leading C/Cards. If they ran the same spiel by you as they did us, it is worth a try. But… be determined, do NOT give them a reason, it is like opening the door to an armed thief. Most of us have never heard of Club Absolute before we enjoy our idyllic holiday in Thailand. We are then approached by locals, who appear genuine (this is who we feel sorry for). We then think, 'Yeh, I'd like more of this holiday lifestyle' and along comes the answer-Club Absolute, they've got us hook, line & stinker! Don't we all look at the real estate agents windows when we are on holidays?! I don't think you need to spend too much money with a lawyer, just don't send anymore money to Absolute, cut your losses. Quit while the going's good, although it is worth persuing with your C/Card company, after all, they would have heard it all before. And, just a comment for Bulldog – your name suits you- you could probably get a job selling rip-off holiday club membership! (Sounds as though they have already contracted you. By the tone of your comments, you obviously have a vested interest) If you are going to say something, please do us a courtesy & make it useful for others.
I whole heartedly agree. The word about these scammers needs to be shouted to the farthest mountain top.
They are really and truly scoundrels that should be revealed as the con artists they are.
Hey!
I am so glad someone else has published an article on this Scam run by Absolute Vacation Club. Myself and many other have experienced this same Timeshare/Vacation Club Scam in Hong Kong where the magical Scratchcard and the Magical 3 Gold Stars seem to pop up.
I have been accused of being greedy for falling into it, but there can be no defence to the lies they tell us, such as ‘its only a survey!’
yeah right…
I hope more people read your post, tourists need to be aware of these Club Absolute Scammers.
