Fishing Day

Forget April Fool’s Day because in Korea it’s all about the fish. My students would point and say something like it’s snowing or your shoes untied and if I looked they shouted Fishing and started making the hand motions of reeling in a big one.

Another student explained that April 1st became fools day because of people who thought the year began on April 1st. After the folks who believed the year started on January 1st beat those other crazies down, they started laughing at them and reminding them of their foolishness every April 1st.
