Rye Post has been serving up mouth watering sandwiches in Itaewon for years. I’ve been popping in there on and off for awhile now and so it’s definitely about time that I give the place a run down. If you haven’t heard about Rye Post by now then you’re most likely living off the grid or maybe you’re not a sandwich lover. If neither of those are the case then you should head over to Itaewon and check them out stat.
The Restaurant is a short walk from the Itaewon Subway station and sits just below Dillingers. When you walk inside it’s a medium sized space with a few scattered tables. I’m not sure if they could accommodate a lunch rush of midday bodies looking to dine in, but you should be fine in non peak hours. Once you’ve gotten settled take a gander at the menu and you’ll find a whole host of sandwiches from all around the globe; you’ve got the Philly Cheese-steak, the Jerk Chicken, the Kimchi Reuben, the Vietnamese Banh Mi,
Either plan for a big sit down to try as many as you can or get a doggy bag to take those finger licking sandwiches to go. Even if you opt out of either option you’ll still want to head back to Rye Post so you can try them all no matter how many trips it takes. If you’re like me then that means dozens and dozens because you keep ordering the same Philly Cheesesteak instead of trying something new!
It’s my favorite for a reason. I mean that Philly Cheese-steak is put together like a masterpiece. The bread is toasty and freshly baked daily. The meat is cooked just right and fused with cheese. The jalapenos and the red chili sauce give the kick it needs to make your taste buds tingle with pleasure. I could have one at every meal for a week and not be dissatisfied. You can order up waffle or thin fries to go with your sandwich or decide on a soup or salad. Those are perfectly serviceable. But you won’t be remembering the side dishes. It’s all about the sandwiches.
