On the heels of my recent post about the top ten apps for expats in Korea I thought I’d delve into the many apps that may not be on most people’s radar. Here are 10 apps for expats that while not as widely known as others still provide valuable information or countless hours of fun for expats living in Korea.

1. Club Mix (Iphone, Android)

Club mix is an app that gives the low down on the events, djs, and parties happening at clubs throughout Seoul. It’s totally in Korean so you’ve got to have some hangeul language skills to make it work.

Melon’s app lets you get your karaoke on the go with featured lyrics. They have a 500.000 song collection as well as a top fifty by genre.  Download or stream you decide.

3. Olleh TV (Iphone, Android)

With Olleh TV you can watch movies, sports, and TV shows on your smart phone with over 40 live channels being streamed. Make sure you have unlimited data otherwise they can quickly add up!

4. Photo Wonder (Iphone, Android)

Photo wonder is one of the top five photo and video apps available  It’s going strong because it offers great real time effects, sharing, editing, beautifying effects, collage for photo walls, frames and backgrounds. Try it out!

5. Smart Wallet (Iphone, Android)

Smart Wallet is an app built to keep your finances under control. You can central all your different accounts into one spot with Smart Wallet, managing your money from anywhere you happen to be. Smart Wallet tracks your spending, creates budgets, helps you save. You can get graphical reports, and also save GPS positions when you complete transactions.

Style share is an app designed to share  you personal style with friends through snapshots. Share what you’re wearing at the moment with everyone in your network. Connect with facebook or twitter to jump start your journey with style share.

8. Tap Sonic (Iphone, Android)

Tap sonic is a game that pits your nimble fingers in a tapping challenge to your favorite tunes. The game has both american and korean pop songs. Choose your difficulty level, loop songs to play without pausing, earn bonus points and power ups! Try it out.

9. Talk to me in Korean (Iphone, Android)

This app takes the lessons from the talk to me in Korean website and puts them in a readable east to use on the go format. Get your Korean learning on.

10. MangoPlate (Iphone, Android)

mangoplateMango Plate offers up to date info on the newest and latest restaurants. Find all you need to know about your neighborhood eateries. Browse by type of cuisine (Korean, Western, Chinese, Japanese  or just view the map to find the nearest hot spot close by. You can also do quick reviews with smileys, write blurbs, upload photos and save your best eating out experience under your favorites so your friends on facebook can check it out your recommendations.
