On the southern tip of Yeongdo Island awaits the contemplative cliffs of Taejondae. This peaceful park boasts a peak that rises over 250 meters above sea level offering the opportunity to glimpse the surrounding beauty from a magnificent view. The park ranks as Busan’s 28th monument.
Taejongdae offers visitors a getaway or perhaps a get back to would be more appropriate as the area definitely is a journey back to nature. The Park offers glorious views from the cliffs, hillside trails, sightseeing boats, as well as a resort park, marine cultural space, an observatory, a renowned spa, and a breath taking coastal walkway.
History says the park was named for Korean King Taejong Muyul (654-661) noted for unifying the Three Kingdoms. It was also used by following Kings and magistrates as a recreational playground. Once you see the surrounding area for yourself you won’t question why.
The park also includes restaurants, shops, and souvenir stands to ensure your brief visit to the outdoors isn’t totally devoid of civilization.
