KMK: Seonyudo Park

Lifestyle Nature

Right on the Han river near Hongdae lies a special little island named Seonyudo Park. Once a beautiful scenic spot along the Hangang it was destroyed due to floods way back in 1925. Gradually, over time, the area was restored with the addition of the Yangwha bridge in 1965 and the Seonyu Water Purification Plant in 1978.

Thankfully wiser minds decided that the area was too nice to spoil with the unsightly water plant and so it was moved thus allowing the area to be turned into a park in 2002.

You can still see the remnants of the water plant facilities as the buildings were renovated to become green houses. Now Seonyudo is a green oasis in the middle of Seoul allowing visitors to relax, rest, and enjoy the view of the Han while walking the island.

We spent our time wandering the park, taking in the view and just generally enjoying the day. Naru cafe is on the grounds if you feel like a bite to eat.
