Venue

KMK: Venue

Clubs Nightlife

Underground music comes in many different genres in many different ways. Down in a tiny hidey-hole basement level space awaits Venue. Yeah, it’s off to the side out of sight and a bit hard to spot, but you’ll be glad when you finally find it. Venue delivers old school hip hop on Friday nights that will whisk you back to your elementary school playground days where girls double dutched and boys schooled each other on the basketball courts. The DJ’s at Venue know their stuff. On a Friday night they’ll have you doing the running man to Ghost Town DJ, cabbage patching to some LL Cool J, or trying to smurf to Kool Moe Dee.

Small Club, Big Sound

Truer words have never been said. The sounds coming from those speakers will wash over you in a euphonious tidal wave of musical nostalgia. You’ll hear songs you’d never thought would be played again in a club especially not one in Korea. The crowd starts off small but waxes and wanes throughout the night as folks come in for their weekly dosage of old school beats.  On Thursday night the music shifts to old school Soul music. If I didn’t have to work the next morning I’d be there every week. Saturday nights shift to more modern hip hop with house music thumping deep soulful beats.

Drinks are what you would expect, hovering around 10,000 KRW for cocktails. Though, the drinking just straight up isn’t the reason to go to Venue. Go for the music. You won’t regret it!
