KMK: Seoul Comic Con 2017

Comics Events Lifestyle

ReedPop, the folks behind some of the biggest and baddest comic conventions seen around the world, have announced Seoul as this fall’s newest Comic Con location. Seoul has never had the distinction before so this event should be huge. Comic Conventions bring together the worlds of comics, manga, cosplay, animation, games, and movies into one smorgasbord of pop culture fun. The action is going down at Coex Mall in Seoul in August on the fourth thru the Sixth. Seoul Comic Con 2017 is on the way!

Previous Global hot spots that ReedPop showcased include Australia, New York, Paris, and Beijing. With Seoul joining the list of high profile locales expect to see surprises galore! When it comes to Comic Cons content reigns supreme. These mega events are all about bringing the fans up smack dab face to face with their favorite pop cultural phenomena. Attendees can expect celebrity meet and greets, fabulous exhibitions to view sneak peek trailers for upcoming movies. Panel discussions with the hottest writers from TV shows and comic books cover topics ranging from Afro-futurism to Time Travel. Q&A’s abound with actors and directors about behind-the-scenes of soon to be released films. Game makers put on demo exhibits of the next big hit to come.

Throughout it all you’ll have the fan base who not only come to view the ongoing events but also participate. Special Cosplay events and contests will be ongoing during the convention. So pick out three of your favorite characters and start working on your outfits. Cosplay is serious fun and people go all out to represent their beloved characters. You’ll be elbow to elbow with Thor, Black Panther, Wonder Woman and a ton of others. Who are you going to be? I’ve got two of my three cosplay ideas already sorted out. It’ll be worth deciding because the winner of the Korea Championships of Cosplay even will be shipped off to ReedPop’s Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo in April of 2018!

Goodies continue to pop up with the Comic Con Seoul Artist alley. Here you’ll be able to buy that hard to find toy or comic panel, chat up artists and writers, nabbed the work of a famous illustrator, or just peruse their work on display. I’m hoping the Seoul Comic Con brings the energy and excitement of the New York Con and more! See you at Coex in August!

      1. thank you so much! I would really appreciate it! With 2 little ones I do not know which days to attend!! So know the schedule would be helpful <3

  1. George Clooney is coming and a bunch of other celebs? Thats great! I hope this event is a success and I wonder how much those big wigs get paid to attend this nerdy event lol

  2. While I (unfortunately) have never gotten into comics and the like, I’d so attend at least one day of this event because OMG 50,000won for an event of this magnitude is SO CHEAP!!! Especially because all those celebs will make appearances too. It’s so great they’re hosting it in Seoul this year, lucky you! What will your costume be?!

    1. The good thing is the fifty thousand will get you three days not just one! I’m going as Afro Samurai, Sahz From Final Fantasy and one more I haven’t figured out yet!

  3. What fun! I mean, I’m not super into cosplay but to see people get decked out and attend just seems like fun. The guest line up looks pretty awesome too! Two of three costumes!? Go big or go home huh?! ^^

  4. I’m not into this but look at the guests!!!! Ticket holders will be able to meet and greet them during their scheduled appearances? Or will there be separate payment on top of the tickets to be able to meet and greet those stars? I’m definitely interested if there is no separate payment:-)

    1. You have to get in line to meet and greet. I’m expecting long lines. For some special guests and panels an extra fee may be asked but so far they haven’t said so on the site so they may wave this. i hope they do!

  5. Oh wow this is so cool! Ticket prices really aren’t that bad either! I’m not a huge comic fan but I do love my marvel superhero movies and would love to see or go to something like this one day! Interested to see what you dress up as… have you figured out your third outfit yet?

  6. OMGGGG! I would love to see the event guests! Unfortunately, I won’t be in Korea by August. I’ll definitely share this to my friends who love cosplay. They might fly to Korea just to be a part of this event. The price of the pass is not bad at all.

  7. We drove by something like this a few months ago (not sure what it was), but lots of people walking around in cosplay. Def a strange sight when you stumble upon it without knowing what’s going on. I must admit that I’m not a big comics/games fan, but seeing everyone all dressed up is a blast. We live just a 10 minute bike ride from COEX, so maybe we’ll take a spin by on those days to check out the scene. I’m sure my 18 month old daughter would love it! 🙂

    1. You should definitely check it out! And if you get the tickets now they are so much cheaper than waiting until the actual event. Was the event you ran into near Yangjae flower mart?
