Hermitage Restaurant in Itaewon has undergone a face lift. The decor has been upgraded to a modern take on pre-1920s elegance (Downton Abbyesque) while the bar area seems very modern and of the moment. Surprisingly, the areas don’t clash.
Most importantly, the menu has kept the tried and true faves like borscht, stuffed cabbage rolls, and the spicy carrot salad. The lunch menu features 3 sets to satisfy a variety of appetites. I was feeling adventurous so I tried Lunch Set B. It featured a cheese-infused eggplant starter and the main dish was a roasted pork loin topped with cheddar encrusted tomatoes and scallions. Each dish was so colourful and well-plated.
The lunch sets are available from 12-3pm and complete with a dessert and Russian earl grey tea. I’ve never heard of such a tea, but it was delicious. The service is great and the prices are too. The sets range in prices and portions from 18,000 won to 28,000 won. Hermitage can be a found a couple of blocks pass the Cheil Building in Itaewon if you are walking towards Hangangjin Station.
