Once again Halloween has come upon me and once again I’m racing in the final minutes to put an outfit together. If you’re anything like me then you’re in the same boat. In previous years I’ve written about a few places you can check out like the Halloween Store near Sadang Station. There’s also a Costume shop in Gangnam near Seoul National University of Education. Though they run a bit pricey and they’re probably down to the bare minimum.
This year, even though I’m dawdling, I’ve got a great idea. I don’t need much in the way of a costume, but I do need supplies. To make that happen I’ve discovered, mostly through kind folks on Facebook, where to find those essential items like liquid latex, simple prosthetic, and make up.
First up is SFX Korea in Itaewon. Here they have a selection of makeup, adhesives, gels, and prosthetic like fake teeth, hands, fingers, feet and other body parts and face masks. However, the great thing about these folks is that they will actually create items or the look you need. Go in for a consultation and see what they can come up with for you. They have costumes and accessories as well. Want that Walking Dead bottom of the well look? They could do it. Apocalyptic vampire? No problem. Well, the website is all in Korean so that may be a problem. I suggest heading into the store.
Next up is Makeup Magic. As you can guess this place specializes in makeup. Here you can find a dizzying array of colors, powders, brushes, eyeliners, pencils and everything else you may need to paint your body and face. They also carry accessories like overly exaggerated eyebrows, teeth, bald caps, as well as already made latex items ready for wear like fake gashes, sores, and wounds. Need some quick Halloween tattoos? They have those too. They are located in Apgujeong. Take exit four of Apgujeong station. Turn right. Keep going past the Mr. Pizza. Then make another right. You should be able to see it across the street to your left.
If you want to risk it you can also check out Gmarket, though the clock is ticking and who knows if you will get what you need in time. Please report back if you check either of the two stores! And send us pics of your costumes for the KMK Halloween Contest!
