Hollister has come to Korea but not in the big way they intended. It seems the SoCal clothing love child of Ambercrombie & Fitch is beginning to garner as much controversy as it’s parent company.
The Korean blog-sphere is erupting over the antics of Hollister model Matthew “Carver” Vande Vegete at the Hollister store in the newly opened IFC mall. Netizens have posted photos of the model giving the middle finger during the photo shoot with fans at the meet and greet. They then go on to post photos from the model’s Facebook account of him and few of his model brethren throwing up the peace sign with some extremely questionable facial expressions. The controversy continues with a slew of comments that either lambaste or defend the model in question.
What do you think? Boys will be boys tomfoolery or racist antics?
i think a model will represent the Hollister brand so it’s best that the model make some official apologize and the press should not put up too much negative news relating to this issue as this will hurt the fans of hollister very much.
I agree. I think the model did actually apologize before he was let go but his behavior is still inexcusable.
Not sure what to say. It puzzles me that such derogatory poses are done again and again for kicks when they’ve garnered nothing but negative press (Spanish basketball team, Miley Cyrus'”Asian eyes”). The only people that are laughing are those who like to put others down.
I agree. In what alternative universe did these guys think it was okay?
