This week I finally got around to buying a Dlsr camera. I’ve been on a hunt for one for the past two weeks. Of course, I first scoured the internet for reviews about all the entry level models.
There’s tons of information out there to sift through. Everything from the Nikon D40 and Nikon D80 to the Canon EOS 1000D. Not to mention the offerings from Sony and Olympus.
I ran around Yongsan and Ipark trying to find the best deal, but my problem is that I always think I will find a better deal around the next cubicle. I scribble down the prices and then move on to the next stand ready to put on a doe eyed expression and haggle for the lowest price possible. Though the doe eyed look probably would have worked better if my friend Rebecca had been doing it. Still, I got some decent price quotes, but I still wanted to check out other places.
Which brought me to the electronic store near Nambu station. The building has several floors of electronics and I almost made a purchase, but once again the little voice in my head screamed to wait and look for something better.
At this point, with my options dwindling, I made the trek to Namdaemun, the spot where I brought my previous camera. I went to one store, yesdica, but I was a bit wary by his demeanor. I had decided on the canon kiss x2 and he precided to put together the kit by grabbing a random off the shelf lens and body and cables and what not. His price didn’t even beat the folks at Ipark. I told him I’d keep looking.
Further, down the block past his place I found the folks at Hyosung Camera co. Ltd. The salesguy, Paul, broke down everything I should expect to have with a brand new kiss x2 which included having the body and lens wrapped in the box as well as all the cords, canon battery, and other items. And he did it all with a great Austrailian accent, not that that put me over the edge into making a purchase, but make a purchase I did.
I’m more than happy!
