A month or so ago my friend Steve and I journeyed to the uppermost reaches of Seoul to visit our friend, Michael. Michael has the unfortunate, in my opinion, pleasure to dwell in one of Seoul’s satellite areas. He calls Nowon home and after being there I now know why it sounds so similar to No One – due to the lack of people – and No Won – due to the lack of shopping and dining.
Despite still being on the subway system and connected to a hustling and bustling mania of Seoul, Nowon manages to ooze a sedate Proventil feeling even with the lone skyscraper barely brushing against the cool blue skies overhead.
Still, Nowon has its charm. When you visit it truly is about the people and not the place. We had a grand old time, hanging out and walking the streets and dishing the dirt.
I do have to say that his apartment beat mine into the ground like a red headed step child. But at least my shoe box is in Gangnam. 🙂
