KMK: Hello World!

KmKorner Opinion

Hey, everyone! Not only is this my first post, but it’s also my first blog. Well, it’s my first blog if you don’t count the one I accidentally deleted a couple days ago. I never even got the chance to post anything there, so I don’t think it should count.

When I deleted the last blog I lost the name to the great recycling bin in the sky, but I’m not shedding too many tears because Kiss My Kimchi sounds so much better than Seoul Survivor-which has a nihilistic feel about it. I even tried to contact the Great Wizard of Blogger to ask if he or she could retrieve my name, but the Great Wizard proved to be an automated response that, while polite, couldn’t do a thing for me. Bummer.

Or not. Because I brainstormed a bunch of new names. First, for inspiration, I went to The Korean Blog List, which rocks so definitely check it out if you haven’t already. There I found blogs with cool names like: A Geek in Korea; Seoul Brotha (Which I wanted, darn); Seoul Train (another one taken); Where the Hell Am I (Smart & Funny, deadly combination); and Big Seoul Sister (foiled again! Just kidding).

My friends and family know that I am way too indecisive, and so, accordingly, I spent too much time conjuring up blog names. Here are some of the more fun ones (please feel free to cherry pick if you want):

  • Hot Buttered Seoul: Love this! Thank you Issac Hayes. Fun and sort of Flirty
  • Black Ivory Seoul: Thank you Anqelique Kidjo. It gives you that Negritude feel. Love it.
  • Seoul Seeker: Passable, but kind of bland
  • Seoul Traveller: See Above
  • Seoul Sauce: Fun and playful almost went with this one
  • Seoul Asylum: Cool, but not really me
  • Soul 2 Seoul: However do you want me, However do you need me
  • Seoul Calibur: My gaming side is showing
  • My Seoul to Keep: Good, but it’s a little too “my first diary for me”

And those are just the tip of the iceberg. I think I chose well with Kiss My Kimchi. Moving on!

Right now I’m still in the US and this blog will cover my journey to get to South Korea and continue with my adventures as an esl teacher when I hopefully get there!

Before I jet, I have to thank two people for the inspiration to start this blog: Expatjane and Sister Sha. Their blogs do the damn thing and you should check them out and read them. Their writing motivated me to keep track of my own experiences. Thank you, ladies!

See you next time.
