Valentine’s Day is here and in Korea it’s a time for copious candy eating and giving. However, my students pressed it upon me that on Valentine’s Day only girls are supposed to give candy. So bascially the boys in class sit back and wait for the chocolate to come rolling in. I tried to explain that back home it’s all about equal opportunity chocolate giving, but they refused to believe that.
I broke tradition and gave out candy to everyone and to their credit they did manage to protest weakly in between handfuls of candy eating. So, Happy Valentine’s Day!
Yup the korean sweet tooth is in full effect.
